Looking to stock up on my tackle for this year and looking for new lures that catch fish
-
For numbers a small Swedish Pimple with chartreuse tape, and a few maggies. For bigger perch a small perch pattered Chubby Darter.
-
I have good luck with a Forage minnow in glow chub color and 1/16 ounce size.
-
yes, stay with 1/4 oz or less famous jigs ..for yellow perch, I like 1/16 oz chrome kastmaster or swedish pimples tipped with maggots
-
Russian spoon with a perch eye
-
Like the others said, you can never go wrong with a Swedish Pimple. My favorite is any of the (now plentiful) tungsten marmooska style jigs such as the Fiska's Wolfram jigs, K & E Skandia jigs, CJ&S Chekai Jig, the Northland Hard Rock Mooska Jig, the Eco Pro tungsten ice jigs, Bentley Jigs, etc. These are productive in just about any color, but I prefer bright colors particularly chartreuse, fire tiger and pink!
-
Fiskas and Halis for me. If one doesn't work the other usually does. ;)
-
Bro bugs n fiskas for me
-
castmaster has worked on every water i have ever fished
-
I have good luck with any vertical jig, usually topped off with a small plastic offering.
-
raps, cast masters and my home made spoon and pimples
-
Forage minnow. Last year on a tough bite Fiskas with a small buckeye deadsticked, but jigging them is more fun.
-
bananna jids and rockers i paint , raps ,pimples, cast masters and caty jigs nitro glo
-
pimples and hali's with perch eyes
-
swedish pimple, and by the looks of it the slender spoon may be a contender soon.
-
Anything Northland tackle. Jammin jigs. Any variety. What I do is when I go get bait I buy a few jigs at the local bait shop. Pays huge dividends with the information you get from them. They are the ones that get the info from the fisherman. Mostly locals. So a few bucks to put me in the right direction is well worth it as well as stocking my tackle. 2 for 1.
-
I like the Swedish pimples in various sizes and colors, northlands with plastic such as scuds, impulse mayflies pink/ white was good on perch and gills same for bloodworm, and a good bait was a pimple with hook taken off 6in dropper size 14 glow jig with a single spike was good as well for the picky ones beating the mud and raising it above the silt cloud
-
Spoonfeeder jigs:-) and I do have one of those mf fish catchin spoons by dovonic motorsports! Lol deeeevoo! If your going to spend some bucks filling your box, any of the standards mentioned will work.buy both vertical and horizontal presentations.. Tungsten and plastics have been my go to when things get tough tho, theres certain lakes they just shine on!
-
kastmasters, forage minnows, pimples, jigging raps(when feeding aggressive). fiskas, mamooskas, lindy fat boys tipped with maggots or small plastics (when they are pickey)
-
Spoonfeeder jigs:-)
The spoonfeeders are theBOMB! .........I pulled some nice perch and slabs this fall around the pillings at I Bay on the pink glitter with tinsel spoon. There's nothing like vertical jigging!
-
Lindy Iceworm or"Genz Worm" some call it. Usually the green glow or the red glow. Somedays you can put em down fast enough. Pimples glow or blue work well also.
-
I've had good luck with small Swedish Pimples, white and green seem to be good colors, also Northland Glow Jiggle Bugs.
-
Swedish pimple in silver or gold and the northland spoons with the treble hook in a perch pattern or green with the glo paint
-
Wolfram tungstens. They get there quick.
-
Thats like asking what my favorite beer is.
It just depends on the day...
-
Tear drop jigs tipped with grubs.
-
Marmooska's
-

Jiggin rap?
-
Jiggin rap minnow head for the slobs. It never comes off my line, first to last ice.
-
Bro bugs, caty football jigs, slab jiggies ice jigs, and small jigheads tipped with the spaghetti ball legs have seemed to work for me. Colors would have to be orange green pink and white.
-
Mooska jigsaw
-
CJ&S Chekai Jig or northland forage minnow. killed them at henderson harbour on that forage minnow
I agree the new Chekai jig has been very good so far for me.

RAT
-
Caty jig on top and kastmaster on the bottom
-
I use some lure from a company called PK I think, and i like some red spike on the tip.
-
I have always done well with small spoon called "Perch Eye" and with small Rapalas in the perch or bronze colors.
Eagle Ed
-
I discovered the ole hedon sonic blades work well too ..I would recommend the small one for perch .
-
Surprised I didn't see these listed yet - I do pretty well with buckshot spoons (glow perch, tipped with a couple of spikes).
I like hali's too....
-

You think? ::) ::) One of your quotes.. ;D
"tip with red Spike. The pk is the lure I use 90% of the time when jigging."
-
Lou Jon with a Perch eye on the bottom, with a yellow or white bucktail jig above (or both) or white glow Katy Jig tipped with waxy.
-
I like to use the smallest perch colored
Jigging Rapala
-
I like to use the smallest perch colored
Jigging Rapala
I agree, done well with any perch pattern rapala jigs but the sonic blade is a proven success for me too. I been finding out both open and on ice firetiger or perch colors over any color for vertical jigging.. it won't be long and it will be safe ice!

All Marmooska, Mormish, Mooshka, Fiskas and other similar brands are derivatives from Russian Mormyshka (мормышка) which is what the entire Europe catches perch with. Works just as magically in the US when used properly on the small rod with strike indicator, tipped with spike, mousy or wax worm. Nothing beats it!

do you have a color and size or maybe a picture of this russian lure? I also feel the same about the smallest Kastmaster in plain chrome tipped with mousies.. I caught all species on this magical lure.
-
Tip a marmooska with white and red spikes kills them every time
Goodluck

Blood red tungsten jigs for the most part, tipped with any kind of maki plastics is the best set up :)

Hali sukkula (spelling?)
-
For years, I loved using the Pliki jigs in various colors, but since losing my last jig a few years ago I can't seem to find them again in our local shops or on line. I found that the Hali jigs are almost as good, and have been using them as a replacement.
-
I like the Russian Mormyshka's in silver, gold and copper, size #12 and #14 tipped with a mousies.
-
Smallest slender spoon with 1.5" dropper to a single hook packed with spikes or minnow head. Deadly, and my dinner tonight proved it! :)
-
I like small tungston jigs. Color depends on the day.
-
oramge and black caty jig
-
Wish to read more specifics here, it is one thing mentioning a favorite lure ,, it is better to post where and what species (in this case it is asumed yellow perch) color lure type of sun..clear ice.. or snow covered..depth.. clarity of water.. i mean there are too many variables and spectrum of day... also principle forage has a lot to do with choice in size and color and the dpth or structure of the watershed. In example, I would prefer a bigger glow lure in over thirty feet fishing schooling perch rather a tiny teardrop or light weight jig .. so my favorite perch lure depends on what works from day to day. My go to lures are many but usually under 1/4 oz for perch but not so light for thirty feet plus
-
Got any pictures ???
I will try and upload some later today.
-
All these great jigs and nobody mentioned the "Three Dot?"

In my bait shop I have a line of jigs that were made by a old timer who came up with these jigs the molds were past on to his son .these jigs work awesome I have 30+jigs to chose from and catch fish on all these jigs u won't find in to many places .I got hooked up with these jigs because of a old timer the catches tons of big perch and I always listen to the old timers they know what there doing
-
as jigs go my favorite is a caty jig rugrat with a maki wormi trailing it. but in recent yrs slender spoon with a fathead has become my go to
-
Anyone of them are great if they work :icefish:
-
raps master and the pimps
-
I have used most of the jigs mentioned but in the past for ND Jumbos, it was mainly little cast masters and northland buckshots. Been using PK predators this winter amazing results...u should get a couple for your box. Using just minnow heads.
-
Frostee jig and fat boys.
-
X2 on the buckshots and PKs but I go for a little variation on the Kastmaster. I have better luck with the Macho Minnow. Almost the same profile but I like that little clacking tail added.
I've also picked up quite a few jumbos on small rattle baits while trying to call in walleyes.
-
Any small perch sized jig with mousies worked today. .slow but also every take on my showdown was very light. No aggressive hitstoday . Very light taps and many misses.
-
pimples all the way
-
1/32 chartreuse round head tipped with a fathead or waxie. if too many dinks up to 1/16 same color
-
Some guy in the parking lot gave me one of those, once......Where do you buy more?

-
pimples or green glow jigs with spikes

the ones in their mouths
-
The Northland Scud Bug is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. @)
For the aggressive morning bite. I like them above a Hali.
During the tougher mid day hours. I run them as my bottom jig with a wooly bugger or some other fly above.
These things may end up selling me on the whole plastics craze. Up until this year I have always preferred meat on all hooks. Spkies, mousies, or minnow heads.
-
