FIRST ICE - Safe and Successful
« on: Oct 27, 2016, 08:44 PM »
Went to go check on a buddies lake house in the valley and the ice as well. It was 4" and pretty solid. We decided to stay close to shore and fish for a few hours before I had to head back into anchorage - and before the sun started warming everything up. Temps were in the teens when we first arrived and by around 230p you could tell it was softening and getting sketchy. We caught 19 fish total, all between 16-23".  Felt good to be on the hard water and try out some new gear. It's gonna be a good season. I got more GoPro footage then I did fish pics but did snap a few for you guys.

My friends biggest from today.

Nice. Sure wish it was early December already here in MN. Hopefully we'll be on ice by then.

Thanks guys!  With the warmer temps we've had the past week the lake is not fishable anymore.  We were lucky to be able to fish during that short window.  Praying for some cold weather now so these lakes can lock up.

I don't know about you guys but I have 5 tipups on the ice right now.  Plenty of ice in willow.  Nice fish by the way good way to start off the season.
I was born an Alaskan I just didn't live here at the time.
