Go-To's
« on: Sep 15, 2013, 10:42 PM »
Hopefully only 9 or 10 weeks away from safe ice hear in the SE. What will be your first lure down the hole this season?

I'm thinking gold/chartreuse Slender Spoon.

Last year my go to was a 1/4oz silver pk spoon, no matter where I went it produced. Spent 42 days on the ice last season bass, pike, pickerel, crappies, and a ton of white and yellow perch
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish.

UV buckshot!  Some tourney's have been banning them cause they catch to many fish.

X3...Pretty much any reputable place that sells ice fishing tackle should have them. They are new this year, made by Northland Fishing Tackle.

I'm skeptical... Can you link me to a tourney that has banned them?

Going to have to go with my White Glow PK's for Jigging .... and Snelled and beaded Red hook set for my Tip ups .... cant Wait for some hard water.

Will do some more work trying buck shots and darters as well ....

Might even try Bitter this year... since I'm less then 30 mins away .... and haven't went in the 3 years I've been in SD

I know right .... lol  seems everyone on this forum thinks Bitter and Waubay are the Mecca of SD Ice fishing .....And they are great fisheries.

To be honest there is so much good fishing around this area its easy to take the path less traveled and be very successful ...... It has taken nearly 3 years but I have developed a pretty good local communication network from coworkers ....I get the word on hot bites pretty quick ...

There is a Tight lip code of silence for those out side the know .... funny stuff but it keeps the less traveled the less traveled.

I have a couple public lakes that I fish up there and don't even consider Bitter or Waubay... They are just too big and intimidating for me.  That and I don't have a sled or atv.
