Pierre or fort thompson fishing?
« on: Jan 16, 2011, 10:04 PM »
Is anyone ice fishing the river yet?  I"m not sure what kind of cold weather you guys have had over there.  I have fished fort thompson stilling basin in the past, but I also drove all the way over there once with my ice gear and found open water.  Figured I try asking around this time. :)

The river in pierre is froze. I'm guessing the bite at ft george and west bend is decent with the ice ok too.  I lived in pierre for a few years but didn't venture too far on the ice. Stilling basin was decent but that ice was a little shifty for me especially if they were releasing water.

Well, three weeks ago the ice was kind of crappy in the stilling basin, north shore had snow and water on the ice west bend had snow( guys were using sleds or 4wheelers to go out), Joe creek had several out with snow on the ice but not too bad.

I heard the chad were back at the fort, a few fish are being caught... Good luck I plan on going again this coming week.

Good luck.....
Sometime hard water is a good thing..............
