PYMIE AND P.I BAY
« on: Feb 12, 2019, 07:07 AM »
Heading to Pymie and P.I. bay for long weekend, hoping edges hold with this crazy warm rainy weather.
had too projects this past weekend, did manage a ride to Lake Arthur, saw 17 huts out, ice looked good.
has anyone been out this week at either place?

I'm also interested in hearing about conditions at P.I. Bay.  If no one else posts anything,  could you post a report after your long weekend.

I fished Marina PI Sunday slow bite and little perch caught 11/ 4 legal size.
Ice was 8-9 inches but not all clear and a lot of cracks and honeycombing
it was cold Sunday I wouldn't want to be out there after it softned up.
Misery Bay I heard reports of 5-7 inches of ice lots of shad and mixed reports some guys getting nothing others doing well.
There were guys on the head of bay too.
The main bay was open water Friday its iced over again but thin.
Basically be very careful wherever you go this ice has been thru a lot I am not sure I will go back out on it see what happens maybe next week.
I am a new guy to this game I play it safe and have a lot to learn.

I remember ice fishing back in the 70's when you had a solid 3 month period on the ice , sometimes longer. Anyone who dos'nt see the climate is changing isn't paying attention.

I agree. Drove around Pymatuning Thursday and didn’t see one shanty on the ice. Shorelines were gone. Even Linesville was empty. Headed to Fireman’s beach up at Conneaut Lake. All open around the shoreline there too. Shenango was a no go too so I headed to Mosquito in Ohio. Ice is still solid there and guys were out all over the lake from north to south end. Not a great bite but did manage to get enough for dinner. Crappies perch and gills.

I also went by Pymy on Thursday and did see two shanties off Snodgrass and one bucket sitter. Where they got on I haven't a clue. No cars in Snodgrass or Manchester and they were between. I could not find a place to get on at either place. There was also a shanty just south of the beach across lake. I nibbled around trying to find a place to get on and headed for Mosquito.
Have not tried again because Friday had to be hard on the ice but now with a couple cold nights perhaps its fishable. Any reports would help.
