Anybody use a Stinger hook?
« on: Jan 23, 2006, 11:18 AM »
I'm getting some short strikers on my jig/minnow working for Walleyes.  I bought a couple kinds from Lindy.  Fear they will keep some fish from striking at all.  I've gone away from steel leaders, and fear these might be the same.  Any luck with them?
I enjoy that perfect peace -- that peace beyond all understanding, which comes at it's maximum, only to the man who has given up golf.

I use stinger hooks for lake trout. I crimp a small treble on the main jig hook. Really helps.
Politically incorrect, and proud of it.

I tie a small #12 or #14 treble on the hook of the jig when the perch are sucking minnows off the jig.  Works like a mini quick strike
The moon is much smaller than the earth, however, it is much farther away.

I use a stinger the majority of the time in the winter months, I usually let it hang free and often catch the fish with that alone. Sometimes the fish just sit and watch the bait and when the inhale the hook themselves with the free floating stinger.
Set the hook and keep your line tight!
