Morning every 1,so yesterday I sanded a few driveways then shoveled 1 big roof I never got a chance to deliver that load of wood so that's what I'm gonna do this morning.hen have to go look at a new driveway we will be plowing then we have a few things to do here around the homestead need to get a burn permit,we have a huge brush and stump pile from when we cleared the area that is our wood yard, then maybe start burning this week.I may try to get an evening trip in tmrw nite with my brother #2 who is kinda limited on when he can fish to weds nites and 1 day on the weekends.
Hope every 1 has a great day back to work or school tight lines to all those fishing today

Gm errybody. Damn roads are glare ice, rained some overnight and frozen up. I'm on 2 hour delay now. Work can wait. Yesterday wasn't my best day either. Damn quad is acting a fool right before my trip to LBDN so that's frustrating. Plus I came down with a nasty head cold last night. Well things will get better I'm sure. At least the Packers and Badgers got wins this week.

We missed out on some heavy rain yesterday by only a few miles but did get some. I have not looked to see how icy it is yet.

MW
You need to look into this snow removal system. It sure saves the back from shoveling. I have had one since they first came out. A lot of times I work it off a step ladder of the eave is to high to get a level shot at the roof. www.avalanche-snow.com They can be worked from the top of the roof if needed just do not walk all over the roof or it will not work as well.

Eddie
I did not fish. I went out just to talk. He was virtually attacked a year ago in the same spot by a pair of lake Nazis that claimed he did not belong on the lake as a non member. His mom actually owned the lot that the one pushes her pontoon across to get it in her back yard for the winter. These two continued to harass him most of last summer. We were making plans to block her from getting her pontoon back out of her yard, we just need to find the lot stakes for HIS lot as his mother signed it over to him.

Good Morning ER's   Bigern 02 hope your wheeler starts behaving for your trip north;looking forward to your posts on the trip. WS good job on taking the wife to a night out and good repair work on the blower. Eddie the unit is not battery far from it; uses the same power cord and transducer as the vex. Not sure I'll use this as it is mint. Cold snap coming in later today staying for a week at least should lock up the last area lake for good. ? for camera owners for those that hang it straight down how far can you see in crystal clear water? Might try to rig my vista cam ( suitcase size) up to hold it downviewing but the cam housing is weird and may not allow it unless manual mode of holding it or getting it stuck in a 5 inch hole. (sometimes mistakes lead to good stuff)

Good Morning ER's currently 13* with a high to day of maybe 29, should be making the ice grow, then late tomorrow some light snow, until about noon on Thursday   Have to find time to take the 12 mile drive to the Parks Office and get my Centennial pass renewed for the year.  For me its a $14 instead of $70 for old farts like myself.

Right about the Chinook winds Eddie. remember sitting in my recliner on west side second floor condo, and watching the concrete building appear and disappear in the window of the wood frame building we were living in.  Didn't take to long to decide to move elsewhere.
Tom sounds like the shoe is about to get on the other foot with the "Lot" stakes

Sorry about the head cold bigern02, no fun having one this time of year.  Chicken soup ?

Marv  on the blower fix.

Sorry coffee pots empty, OG  you will have to make your own.  Good Day to all, and please let me know when America is "Great Again"  Yikes just look out and its snowing .

Nasty few days coming. It sounds like Marv thinks he needs to share his bone chilling cold. low single didgets and negatives. The roads are pure ice. I almost went back and got my spikes to cross the road to get the mail. A week from this Wednesday calls for 40* plus. Two days to the city this week for appointments with the 4wd in the shop for a transmission leak.

MW  No bullet holes that showed after last nights rain, anyway. Looking for the stakes may have to wait for spring. I already talked to zoning. He was laughing when I told him what was up as he knows all about her. We have a fence ordinance but a row of stakes with rope through them are not classified as a fence, so they are landscaping so are not covered. let her try to call them a fence.

The young man has been working lawn care for years. He finally put his applications in other places. He got hired to run the tool crib for a huge plumbing and heating company. The owner said he was not asking enough for wages, so he raised it $3.00. The company had no clue where all their tools were including a big bunch of expensive sewer cameras.

Mindy pick up some Seafoam. Menards is cheapest by far. 1 oz. per gallon in all the gas you run through your small engines. Forget the stabil.

Good Morning Everyone!

Cold temps and -30 wind chills are on tap for the day. I have some stuff to putter with in the garage so I don’t plan on going too far. One full day back to work and the wife is still happy!

Old Goat I had a Sitex one time, dang good unit

Tom I will make sure and send a blast of warm air right behind the cold stuff ;)2 Good luck with getting the leak fixed.

Hope all is going well for you mr.clean. Any fishing plans?

Good luck with the burning MW. A couple of New Year’s Eve’s ago I torched this one out at the shack. It almost melted my cup, lol

Hope anyone hitting the ice finds success. Keep safe and be careful.

                Good morning Marv, ER's,
WS.........That's one raging fire, you look a little close! Good thing there is liquid in the cup!
                        MW.........Good luck with the burning!
Tom........Good luck with the transmission, I bought a 1961 Valiant that had been sitting a while and the transmission
seal was dried out and leaked, so I bought some Transmission seal leak stop after a few cans it finally worked, saved a big
                 bill at the shop!
Steve.......I see that your temps will drop, I hope you get enough to make some decent ice so you can get out!
I was supposed to meet up with my fishing buddy but last night when I was in my bathroom the mirror on my medicine
cabinet broke off and there is no way to fix except for building a new type of door, it happened to the other two in my hose
as well, my wife really wants me to get them fixed or replaced so I think to day would be a good day to tackle it. I'm not that
handy in doing frame work, I don't know what I'm going to do!
I hope everyone has a good day either at work or out on some ice!

This leak is far beyond transmission stop leak. Speaking of a Valiant, my brother had one when he was in fixed wing school at FT. Rucker. Hot little slant six. He drag raced it. Even had a lakes pipe on the side. Find some military duct tape, it will fix those mirrors.

WS
I do not like the looks of the radar this morning. A lot of lake effect bands of snow between here and Grand Rapids. I can here the wind roaring in the trees out side. Sounds like you are sending me a one day warm up next week.
BTW you can boil water in a paper cup set in a fire, try it some time if you can find a paper cup. I would worry about that fire melting my synthetic clothes more than the cup

Well its here 11* and light snow, below 0* over night, then back into the 50's Saturday and Sunday.  Won lots of bets with the boiling water in paper, and styrofom cups  ;D  Last day of work this week, and guess its nice to know I don't have to work if I don't want too.  ;D  Looks like breakfast will be on the way into to work this morning.

Do you know how to pick up an ice cube out of a glass of water with a piece of kite string? I never have tried it with a Styrofoam cup.

Trip to the city was not bad. To cold for the snow to stick to the pavement for the most part. Back down tomorrow to see my diabetic specialist.

Evening, All

Clouds gave way to scattered sunshine, hi temp. of 53/ low was just below freezing,28? - supposed to get some snow Thursday and late Friday into Saturday

W.S. - Message Received, Thanks - Nice bonfire, btw

O.G. - Fathom That

T.T. - I see I didn't miss anything in the ongoing saga of the 'lake'

bigern02 - Welcome Aboard

I.F.F. - Plenty of fishing now that time is available

Well, had a first ever today-The customer at the tile job was told, very kindly and nicely, to get someone else to finish the job-pulled all my tools out and left-she was never satisfied
with the work, 'I have to check with my Dad', 'why was this done', 'this is not what I want' - well, now she can either have her dad do it or get someone else, I had enough
The radiation treatments have not started yet, still waiting for a time slot to open from 7:30 to 10:00 A.M., this will allow me to still work afterwards, those midday-afternoon appts.
kill the whole day, and if the treatments are 5 days a week for 9 weeks, that is a lot of work to be lost, mentally, I think I am in good shape, it is what it is, one day at a time

A weekend road trip to the Capital District sounds like a good idea, Mason, how deep is the water at the lake?

Be Safe - Have Fun - Tight Lines
Now is the time for all good men and women to engage in the sport of ice fishing

Good Morning Everyone!

A little colder today than yesterday but supposedly things will slowly start to warm up heading into the weekend. At least the winds are a little less with chills in the -20's ???

It’s back out to the garage today going through saws and other gear that need attention from last season, so I guess this is a good time to get it done. Sooner or later I need to work on a box for my dump trailer.

I did get a nice call yesterday from one of the guys I work with (The Green Horn). He was wondering how my time off was going and went on to tell me that he is going to be a dad. Young guys sure do things different these days, but he sure was excited and I wished him the best.

Good luck if you can get out fishing, but most of all stay safe!

Good Morning Everyone,
18* with winds out of the west gusting to 20, high of 26 predicted on the Hill today.
Tried posting twice yesterday am....gremlins or the Kremlin must be at it again!  ;D
Capt...the local lake I fish has a max. depth of about 70'. There was/is a pressure ridge out in the 35-40' range that has had open water preventing anyone from going deep. Next few days of cold here should help seal that up.
There are plenty of other lakes around not too far from Albany with decent ice...trying the Great Sacandaga Lake  this weekend. Keep me posted when you plan on making a trip up!  Sorry to hear the tile job didn't work out, but understand the type of HO you were dealing with....good move!
Tom...good luck with the Dr. visit today. Interested in the kite string trick...would it work in an ice hole?   ;D
Bud...I boiled water in a paper cup as a science project once over a bunson burner...lol...believe I acquired some baseball cards from a few of of the nay sayers!   :roflmao:
MW...ah, the spaghetti eggs, nice touch!!   Looking forward to the brush fire!!
Jeff...hope the fix with the mirror went well and you can get on some ice today!   :icefish:
Marv...can feel the heat from that fire here, yee hah! Some brutal cold temps there! Glad to hear everything is going well with the wife's return back to work....happy wife, happy life!

It's been busy at the Capitol with everyone returning, Senators and Assemblymen...did someone say interns? Wow!! " America Is Great Again " at the Capitol....and getting better by the day!
Only 15 more days until the Donald gets the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue folks!
I've never seen a swamp getting drained yet....eagerly looking forward to that and the possibility of bracelets being placed on a few of the swamp people to boot!  :nono: :callcops:
Cawfee's on....
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Morning Marv, see you posted before I finished...stay warm in the garage tinkering today! Fishing this weekend?

                Good morning Marv, Eddie, ER's,
Eddie......The only way to fix the mirrors is to build a frame and put new mirrors in and different hinges, I found
some new cabinets at Home Depot, they will be here by the 10th. I didn't go out on the ice, I checked a close spot and
there was a few inches of standing water on the ice, today it should be frozen. I might head out if that 30 mph wind stops! ???
Marv.......It was nice that the greenhorn called you, are the others still working? Have fun in the garage today, I think
I'll work in my basement till the wind dies down!
Capt......It's too bad that the tile job didn't pan out. I agree with Eddie!
I hope everyone has a good Thursday either at work or out on the ice!

Good Morning ER's Wow, what a different a day makes.  0* and high of 5 to 9, then below 0 over night, one guesser is saying 50 and 60's Sunday-Monday.  Got snow ending around noon, so will be firing up the blower, zip up the old weather gear, and make a round in the neighborhood.

Sounds like a good day to tinker in the garage Marv.  ;) So its you that has the temps acting like a yo-yo will be putting a dent in my wood pile this evening.  Think I will join in at a tournament Saturday.  Don't know that lake all that well, but tossing in $40, for what will most likely be like being in a raffle  ::) The format is you have to fish predrilled holes, one rod at a time.

Sounds like a good move Capt, taking a lot of grief, doing a job is no fun.

Think a nice warm breakfast is in order this morning. Good luck to anyone out and about today if your fishing.

Good Morning all. Long trip to NYC yesterday. (17hours) Wife had lots of tests. I don't think anyone is back up to speed after the holidays. The new lung is doing fine. Hard to believe that 6 months have gone by already. She does have a touch of pneumonia in her old lung. That one only functions at about 15%. They will let us know today on how they are going to fight that. She just has to get lots of rest for a few days.

The rain knocked the snow down a lot. 17 this morning. It was 52 yesterday down in the city and they have no snow. I think I like that better, must be getting old.

Lots of ice fishermen but no shanties are this end of the lake. Bet they will show up this weekend.

Have a good day...h2l

Good morning!  Only thing to show for the last 2 days of fishing is a tiny walleye (maybe 5 inches?)  Shoulda taken a pic for the short board!!  Micah got a snot rocket on a tipup and another keeper pike yesterday.    He pulled in my tipup yesterday since I forgot my outer climate jacket and my sucker minnow was gone. :(  I left most of my stuff in his truckdince we were going 2 days in a row, thought I left my coat in there.  That liner really does block the wind.  I was chilly but not freezing on the snowmobile rides.

Still haven't figured out LBDN.  I know there are fish but never where I go. :(

No probs with the snowmobile.  Only thing is the trailer lights shut off when you hit the break?????

Timber thought I needed to get up early again today. :(

Capt  I do not blame you for telling that woman  to "Take That Job and Stick It'. I have had a few that I have felt like doing that to. Luckily most of the ones I have done carpenter work for have been great and have become friends.

I just saw on the news that they are putting led lights under a bunch of over passes to make them pretty. Our roads are terrible and they are worrying about over passes being pretty. Yup that is Michigan. I guess that is going to be what they are going to use the extra money from the increased gas tax and license plate fees.

;D Good morning all. -2 this morning with an expected high of 8 deg. Hoping to do a little ice fishing today but my buddy can't make it so going to go solo. Don't do that very often (wife doesn't like it).  Got a nice secluded pond in a timber about 10 miles North of me that has some nice gills and crappie in it. My fishing license expires in a few days so think I'll go renew that before I  forget.  Turned 65 last Sept. so get to buy a lifetime license now  ;D  Have a great day all.

Morning all,
H2L.....glad to hear the wife's new lung is doing ok, hope she kicks the pneumonia quickly.
Capt... letting the stress of working for someone like that go to someone else
MW...we did lose at lot of snow pack the last couple of days, can actually see grass in a few spots  ;D  luckily the latest round of lake effect is staying far north of us  maybe Oneida Lake will get a chance to freeze up now. Web cams yesterday showed white caps on both side of the lake  >:(
IFF....sounds like some serious crazy weather for sure   :cookoo: good luck in the tourney if you decide to enter.
IW...hope your winds die down so you can get on some ice, still blowing pretty good here this morning.
WS....all I can say is "brrrrr"  :o  should be making some good ice tho  :icefish:
I know this isn't a good time of year to start looking for ice fishing clothes, but we've decided to invest in some striker predator or hardwater bibs at some point. I would greatly appreciate if anyone hears of a good deal somewhere if you could give me a heads up. I know a bunch of you guys are always looking for bargains  ;D
Have a good day at work or play. Keep warm & stay safe.
