Good afternoon everyone!
It's been a long day on stand. This morning I saw 1 deer at day break about 80 yards away. Couldn't tell anything as to what it was. Then around 9am I saw another one in a different direction about 100 yards away. That's been my day other than a ton of squirrels.
Tonight the winds are supposed to pick up close to 50mph with rain by day break. I will see what this evening brings and if the extreme warm temps shut things down I may not fight the conditions and call it a weekend.

Nice walleye ninja!

Congrats on your outing Wally. Don't worry about my hanging on, no choice lol
I do wish I had my hard hat.

Eddie, I wish one of the guys had a trail camera, a movie of a victim would be great!

Have a good evening everyone!

Greetings everyone just relaxing before getting dinner prepared. Tbern feel free to stop in anytime this thread does have it's regular posters but we are not an exclusive group.
Deal Ninja congratulations on the walleye   is the fish from your local lake.
Mr.Turkey nice to hear your furnace is up and running good  that you have knowledge to work on it and save cost of service call.
Eddie how did the concrete work go today guess with the colder weather coming your hours are getting adjusted as there will be fewer outside jobs. Happy rodent hunting.
Ice Wanderer may the medication help your shoulder. I found an extra sand stake /spike you might want for use with the surf rod. If so let me know and I can send it to you.
IFF may the transmission repair fix your vehicle's problem . Your neighbors must have better food items around their homes that are keeping the raccoon well feed.
Wallyworld have you recorded the spots fish were caught at to try this Winter. Think water temperature are still to high for crappies and walleyes to be migrating to their Winter holding spots.
Raquettedacker do you keep any of the green houses going over the Winter months so you have a jump on things when Spring arrives or wait and start planting in late Winter/early spring.
Whopper Stopper wish you had better weather ,I'm sure your still having a great time with your brother.

Have a pleasant evening.
Steve

Good fall fishing and hunting gentlemen. Hunting been slow in Western Pennsylvania,I've not harvested a deer in Ohio or Pa. I'm about ready to start fishing. lol Sure hope we get good ice and have a long season.

captain54, sure hope your right on better ice season, than what has been happening.  Both Penn and Ohio seasons run the same time?

Not looking forward to my local ramps being closed come first of November, especially when there are warm balmy days all month.

Marv, well at least now we know your not taking a nap and missing the visitors.  I missed the wind this afternoon being at work,  Looks like it pretty much stripped the remaining leaves from my ash tree.

Hum now guessers have revised next Thursday forecast to include some white rain and low of 14* over night  will just have to wait and see.

think its milk and cookies time  ;D

Hi everyone.  Weird time for me post, can’t sleep for some reason...  I heard back from Mindy (Yoopergirl) tonight.  She’s alive and well.  It sounds like she’s really busy with work.  She’s working 12 hour shifts and extra shifts as well.  The work-eat-sleep, do it again routine.  I asked her to try and drop by for a quick “hello” soon.  She hopes that everyone’s doing well and hopes to be back at some point.

               Good morning Deal Ninja, ER's,
It's 49* and clear here on my hill with another warm day ahead.
Welcome to the morning addiction captain54, we welcome anyone who wants to join in. ;D
Steve........Thanks, I'll PM you my address. How was dinner?
Bud I hope your guessers are right, and send some our way, it's way too warm for this time of year! :%$#!:
Marv........I wish you luck in the stand today! :flex:
Eddie.......Are you hitting the lake today or the tree stand? ???
Deal.........That's good that you heard from Mindy, glad she's OK, I bet she's working extra shifts so maybe she
can take more time off for ice fishing.  :icefish: Of course she probably hasn't had time to take the boat out. :cookoo:
Yesterday I put up more lights for MW's wood processor, he's really ramping up for some wood orders that he
has to fill. Then I went out to sit in my ground blind but deer don't like to move in this warm weather, so the first
muzzle loading season is over and regular season opens today, but I have some the last of my wood to put in my
new woodshed and leaves to clean, never ending till they are gone. I mulch and bag them, there are so many this
time around that I'll have to empty the bagger after one pass! :%$#!:
I hope everyone has a good Saturday either at work or out hunting or fishing!

Morning all,

Did the overnight bike trip Wed/Thurs to the Finger Lakes region. Beautiful country. Leaves are about peak out that way, but the colors are VERY dull, even with the sun on them  :(   Nice riding weather though, especially for mid Oct  @)

Think today is leaf cleaning day AGAIN  ::)

Have a good day. Stay safe.

Good Morning Mark, Jeff, OG, Wally, Morning Everyone,
Clear and calm 47* this am, high of 71 expected here in the Hilltowns today.

Welcome aboard the 9:45 Capt54!!
OG..good luck with the snowblower deal....how's the fishing been? Will be giving some of those new lures you sent me a workout today, will keep you posted.
Wally..really nice weather for the bike trip, glad you enjoyed it! Seems like all the trees are very dull looking this year. Nice job on your last fishing trip!
Jeff...this warm weather seems to have brought out more bee's than deer, hard to believe its the tail end of October!
Best of luck on the regular season, hope we see some of Bud's weather soon! I'm taking out my boat mid morning, going to try hunting down some big bluegills and perch for dinner tonight...my sons are hunting this morning.
Mark...thanks for the heads up on Mindy, glad she's doing ok, looking forward to our nurse coming back and joining in!
Bud..hope you can manage a trip or two in before the boat ramps close down. Do you ever fish Carter Lake at all?
Marv...that's a good looking doe...was back straps on the menu last evening??
Steve..the concrete went well yesterday, the temperature was ideal for working outside. I think the only complaint we heard was from one of the food vendors who couldn't park his truck where we were working...we'll be hearing more of that soon as the area we're now working on is where all the food vendors park..Doh!   ;D

Well, the Yankees couldn't seal the deal last night against the Astros, both teams tied with 3 wins apiece. Tonight it will be game 7, winner take all and move on to the World Series against the Dodgers...Go Yankee's!
We got our first confirmed kill on the Victor traps yesterday morning....5 3/4" long, hitting on a piece of Hershey's chocolate.... :flex:   Thought for sure the crumb cake muffin would produce first... :roflmao:
A trip to the transfer station at 8:30 and then loading the boat....can't wait to break out a few of the ice rods all set up with new line and lures..hope the panfish are on the chew this morning.
  Cawfee's on...
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

Not much planed today other than some more leaf clean up. I mowed for the last time yesterday. I know it is going to be the last time as I pulled snow blower out of it's place in the garage. The lawn mower now sits in it's place. I plugged in the starter cord on the blower. I think it turned over only a couple of times and was running like it did last spring. Gotta love sea foam.

It is good to here Mindy is fine. Those kind of hours can ware on you after a while. The shortage of competent nurses does not help in not having to work like that.

Our pheasant season opened yesterday. I have not seen a pheasant in so long I do not know if I would realize what it was if I saw one. After hunting them for a couple of days I would start trapping fox. It usually started raining shortly after. Looking at the guessed weather for next week with all of the guessed rain brought back that memory.

OG Check out the reverse speed on the blower. I bought a new one a few years ago. Troy Built 24 inch 10 horse. I love it except for the reverse, it is slow and just a little bit faster. Kind of like a snail and a turtle. I opened it up to see how the drive worked. It was driven like a lawn mower I had almost 50 years ago. I can not remember if that lawn mower was so slow in reverse or not. It is a pain when blowing the stuff out of the mouth of the drive after the plows went by. Wanting it to blow it all, one way and backing it back up is not fun.

Eddie I always used either cheese or peanut butter for bait. Push what bait you use up into the curl of the trigger so the have to work to get the last bit.  I always use nothing but Victor mouse traps. Most of the other brands a  joke. It is hard to find good mouse poison since the original DCON has been taken off of the market.

IFF  How is the wife dong with her blood sugars? Mine are doing better since the wife had her gastric sleeve done. Her eating less and more nutritious foods has even caused me to lose a few pounds.

Maybe Marv has a motion detector hooked up to a shock collar to wake him up when some thing comes through.

Good Morning ER's  Awaiting a neighbor lady to arrive.  Needs a ride up to Golden CO, where she is to pickup a near new Class C camper.

Tom, shes keeping the BS  pretty much the way she wants it.  Did you say your A1C is in the 6 range ?

Eddie  Carter is not one that I have been too.  And my bad, ramps don't close until December 1st.  So still a chance to get out and see if there will be any walleye going to the freezer.

I have wondered how many hours Mindy was getting out to enjoy the new boat.  But can understand working for moneys to afford taking it out.  Got a good bump on my payday yesterday  ;D

Well time to get on with this day, stay safe all.

IFF
I just had an A1C done a week ago. Down from 6.7 to 6.6. I have lost around 15 lbs also. I lay that to the change in both of our diets since the wife had a gastric sleeve done last spring. Way better than the 13+ I had when I was diagnosed with type 1 back in 2010. I am not following such a strict diet like I used to so I am pleased with the A1C's. So is my diabetic specialist.

Good afternoon everyone

I skipped the stand today and was glad I did. About 8am the rain moved in and came down like gangbusters. We eventually loaded everything up and hit the road calling it the weekend. I have a few things to get done around home before heading back next Thursday for my extended stay through Nov 4 if need be. I saw plenty of deer and a couple scrub bucks but the chase phase of the rut seems a long ways off yet. They are calling for colder temps next week with highs in the 30's. I hope that helps.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday  Stay safe!

IFF, Ohio and Pa.season in at the same time, but Ohio archery season is ridiculous. Sept 29- till Feb 3 rd. The only bad thing is the gun season are the same week, but that's never been a problem. I usually have both bucks in the freezer by then, this year is a different story EHD hit Pa. and Ohio hard. I'm not seeing many deer, squirrel and turkeys lol.

Good evening folks to answer your question Whopper Stopper Friday nights dinner was nothing special just microwaved a couple of frozen chicken patties. I took another road trip today drove to Arkville,NY. (Delaware county near NYC's Pepacton water supply reservoir)  A group runs a train ride along privately owned track most of the foliage was past peek color but nice way to spend a couple hours the train has restored cars from the 1930-40's possibly earlier . Like steeping back in time when railroads played a larger role in life between providing transportation and bringing supplies to many smaller communities. Arkville is in the western Catskill mountain area of NYS. Most of the Catskill mountains were a major tourist destination in the early 18 and 19 hundreds still many second/vacation homes through out the region.
Capt.54 feel free to join us here at the 9:45 at any time.
Deal Ninja thank you for reaching out to Yoopergirl/Mindy glad to hear she is well and still working extra hours . My guess is this helps her pay property taxes, plus pay for the on-going house renovations .
Ice Wanderer good to read Mealworm's wood supply business has taken off to the point he needs lights to work extended hours to keep up with demand for fire wood.
Wallyworld nice to see you taking advantage of current warmer weather to get in a few more bike trips. I agree the Fall colors do not seem as brilliant this year.
Eddie hope the fishing was good. Curious how did someone get a piece of chocolate to stay attached to trigger on mouse trap.
IFF may the weather let you get in a couple more boat trips before ramps close for the year.
Whopper Stopper sorry the hunting trip was cut short by the weather may you see more activity on your next outing.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone,
Clear and 49* this am, high of 71 expected here today. Amazing star lit sky this am. Walked with my dogs a few minutes ago and the coyotes are talking up a storm again, driving them crazy as well as the others I could hear barking in the distance.
Congratulations to the Astros and their fans, best of luck in the World Series!    The Yankees just couldn't get it done last evening, maybe next season!

Steve..my co-worker used a Bic lighter to warm up the metal trigger and melted/fused the piece of chocolate on the metal trigger, lol. I've never seen or heard of it done before, but it worked... ;D.   Sounds like a nice old train ride you took, haven't been down near the Pepacton Res. in quite awhile, beautiful area!
Capt54...that EHD problem is a bad one for sure. Do you also have a problem with the ticks in Pa and Ohio? I can't believe how long the archery season is in Ohio, wow!
Marv...that's too bad about the weather messing up your hunting trip with your brother. Glad you saw some deer anyway, hope the next trip goes your way!
Tom...keep up the good work with the A1C #'s!       Did you get the pontoon out yet?
Bud..that's good news on the boat ramp, plenty of time to get another shot at those Walters! Best of luck on your next trip!
Jeff...good luck if you're on stand this morning, hope you see a nice one!
Wally...another nice day coming today...bike riding or fishing?

Had a decent time out in the boat yesterday, caught enough keeper bluegills for a small fry. Red glow Demon's worked really well tipped with a tiny piece of crawler, as did the Clam dingledrop. Caught a variety of fish on both including RockBass, small pickerel and perch, golden shiners and even one bullhead. Had one young boy and his Dad come past me when I was reeling one up and the boy got so excited seeing the ice rod bending...it was funny!
Left the boat on my truck so one more try this morning...going to try out the Slender spoons and a few of the other hard baits OG sent me in deeper water on trout and perch.
Cawfee's on....time to get running and gunning!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Good Morning ER's Eddie thanks for the dingle drop news I have not tried one of those yet. The red glow  demon has been smashing them both gills and crappie. Hope the heavier stuff does you good. TT thanks for the snowblower tip. The one I'm checking out is a oldie but seems to be in ok shape. Mr. clean the train sounds awesome glad you enjoyed it. The Badgers won but Penn St. looks like a National title might be in order. Have a good sunday. My brother returned some stuff I gave him one of those being a Marcum flasher bag if anyone is in need of one send a pm. The other thing was the old flasher which also has fathoms on it glad to have it back it's going in the collection.

Good Morning ER's  awoke to see its 36* with it expected to raise to 70 like Jeff and Eddies day, I've set the alarm to get an hour and half nap in, then pull the cover on the boat and get launched at sun up.  ;D  Mrs left a note on counter saying Packers will be on a local channel at 11:00 knowing I would like to watch it.  Might as well take advantage of the hall pass  ;D

Good Sunday Morning Everyone

I hung out in bed a while this morning and it felt pretty dang good ;D

Eddie the coyotes have been on rampage at the shack also. The other morning they were carrying on well into the night and started again after first light for a couple of hours :cookoo:

It appears the rain has finally left the area for awhile. Today is going to be leaves and mowing, both here and at the s-i-l. That will probably about take the day. I have hunting clothes to wash and other things on the list  for next week, it just depends on how far I get. They are calling for the heat to move out and more seasonal temps to move in by next week. 30's will feel a lot better in the stand than 80.

Hope you all have a good Sunday whether holding a rod or perched in a tree  Stay safe!

Eddie....glad to hear you were able to find a few hungry fish yesterday, hope your trip out today is a success also  :flex:  never thought of melting candy to a trap
IFF.....that's quite a rise in temps today  :o  good luck to you also on the water  ;D glad you have a month more than you thought to get out there  :)
MrC....that train ride sounds fun   we did the Adirondack train ride a few years ago on Oct 1st & it actually snowed the whole day  ::)  a nice ride with some beautiful country
IW....no fishing for a while now, MrWW is at camp till tomorrow, then Tues we head to MA for a week of babysitting while my son & d-i-l go on vacation  hoping to get another day or two on the water after Halloween tho  @)  how's the shoulder coming along  ???

Eddie clever idea to melt chocolate to the mouse trap. Sounds like you had a fun day using ice fishing gear to catch pan fish.
Ice Wanderer good luck with the fishing today.
IFF best to you also on today's fishing trip. Enjoy the Packers game.
Whopper Stopper looks like a busy day of yard work for you.

Good afternoon ER's!!! My internet problems stem from the wife's 2 knee replacements and all of the resulting bills., plus her not being able to work until just this past week. We'll get it all straightened out here in a bit! Using McDonald's WIFI right now to check my email and to post this! All it's costing me is one of those huge $1 iced teas!! I took a while to catch up on all of the posts on this thread. I'm so glad to hear that Mindy is alive and well!! It's going to take her forever to catch up on everything that's been posted since she's been gone!! Day off again tomorrow (part of my weekend) and will hit the library to check my mail and More of the Shanty!! I hope everyone has a great evening!! I'll be back!!!!
My two favorite college football teams are Ohio State and whoever's playing Michigan!!!

Don't reel against the drag!!!

Ex Minnesnowta lad! You can take the lad out of Minnesnowta, but you can't take Minnesnowta out of the lad!!

Good Evening, Got to lake and was told I couldn't launch my boat.  The gang was in the parking lot.  And put a bug in the boat inspectors ear LOL. So went with two of the crew.  At least I out fished them.  Not anything to brag about with 6 short eyes to the boat.  Got home to find the Pack was in the lead just before half time, but they came up short in the second half  :(  With no fish to clean watched the Chargers dismantle the Bronco's  ;D

Managed to corral more leaves, leaving the boat hooked up, and plan on a couple hours first thing in the morning, before having to head into the store in the afternoon.

Looks like low temps for the upcoming weekend will do in Mrs flowers that she has outside.

Marv I think I remember extra time bed side resting old bones  ;D

Good Morning Everyone

Getting set to fire up the old Buick for another early edition at a town home. It is a good thing these places have all the outdoor lighting or we wouldn't be able to start until 7:00 am as dark as it is in the mornings. I guess that will be changing soon enough and then it will be dark when we get home too :%$#!:

Yesterday most of the chores got taken care of. I had intended to mow the yard one more time but the grass was wet all day and by the time all the leaves were done and kayaks stored, the day was slipping away. I started making some meals for the end of the week to end the day. There is talk of snow on Friday, I am looking forward to a good weather change while sitting in my stand

Eddie how are your boys doing with the deer?

Time to find the Bologna and maybe a bar, then hit the door.

Good luck to all whether fishing, mouse trapping, or sitting in the blind.

Good Morning Marv, Morning Everyone,
Partly cloudy skies and 50* this am, high of 66 here today. Looks like some of Marv's rain will be arriving here this evening and hanging around for a day or two.
Marv...a safe day to you and the crew this morning, hope the week passes by quickly for you!   My sons haven't been seeing much lately off stand. My youngest said he spooked a nice buck yesterday morning on his way out, but other than that, it's been slow for them.
Bud..nice job on the catching!   That's too bad they wouldn't let you launch your boat...do they have a cleaning station that wasn't open or something?  Had some issues at the boat ramp myself yesterday... :%$#!:
Mike..enjoy your day off today, we've got about 15yds. of sidewalk to take out today if your interested!  ;D  Keep up the good work on the Jokes thread!
Steve..it sure fealt good using a few ice rods again! Hope things are going well for you, have a great week!
Wally...hope Mr.WW had some luck yesterday! My sons haven't been seeing much lately with the warm weather.
Jeff..good luck today if you're hunting!    Looks like some cooler temps headed our way after the rain...can't get over how warm it's been, crazy!

Reached the lake I was going to fish yesterday morning only to find the boat launch still not completed yet, what a let down. They've been working on it for quite some time now, looks exactly the same as it did a few weeks ago, all it needs is blacktop...  :cookoo:   There was one other guy there with a boat waiting and he was considering taking down the safety cones and launching anyway, I wasn't into that, lol.
I went back to the smaller shallow lake I fished on Saturday, but left the boat on the truck and just shore fished for a bit before calling it quits. Plan on stopping by the Park Office on my way home to see if I can get some info on the launch site.
New work hours begin today, 7-3:30....cawfee's on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!
