Good Monday Morning Bud, Morning Everyone,
The winds are still blowing strong here this am, 15-20mph. 53* at the moment, that will be the high here for the day.
Scratched my boating plans for yesterday afternoon, just too windy, but did hit two smaller lakes for some shore casting. Had some fun playing with a few Bass, pickerel, and bluegills. Spoke to two bow hunters coming out of the woods as I was leaving...they hadn't seen a deer all afternoon...temps were in the mid 70's.
   Bud...try a doughnut and a 22 short!!  ;D
Wally...nice weather yesterday for the bike ride less the winds, saw lots of bikes out yesterday! Best of luck to Mr.WW today if he's hunting!
Steve...thanks for the heads up on the magazine, will be stopping on my way home to get one and see what else might be available.
Jeff...guessing your computer might have crapped out...or are you still dragging out one of those big Adirondack bucks?   ;D. Hope to see you up and posting soon Sir!
Marv...wishing you and the crew a safe day with the saws today...hope it's an easy, stress free day!

Had a nice time with the family at the PumpkinPatch yesterday. A few of them wore shorts, that was a first for the 20 plus years we've going there, lol.
We'll be pouring terrazzo again today. I'm set up with PostImage now, just have to learn how to download pictures from my I-Pad to their site...hopefully get that under control and give you all a better view of what we've been doing.
   Well....tis that time again....cawfee's on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

Good Morning Eddie! Good Morning Everyone

34 by dawn with a high of 61 expected. They are calling for 70 by next weekend ???

Sounds like a fun time at the pumpkin patch Eddie  You also have a good week Sir! Maybe next weekend you will be able to get the boat out.

The wife did some pumpkins yesterday.I will have to post a picture of them if I remember tonight. She always gets a few things out for the Trick or Treaters and yet it's been 15 years or better since anyone has stopped  ???

I got a slow start today so I best get going. Hope you all have a good kick off to the week!

Best of luck if hitting the lakes or sitting in the blind  Keep safe!

             Good morning ER's,
It's 44* and windy here on my hill, the weather guessers says it's going to be 27* tomorrow morning, more
             suitable for deer hunting.
Eddie........Good choice going fishing instead of wasting time in a stand. I didn't hear a shot all day yesterday. :cookoo:
Marv.........it's early in the season, I don't blame you for not taking the spike, that would be one to take the last
day of hunting to get some meat in the freezer.
Bud.......Try a piece of fish for Raccoon bait!
Yesterday MW delivered my last three loads of wood, I have a lot of stacking to do. :o
On Saturday my wife wanted to do something different so I took her to a nature preserve in Queensbury, NY and
we and her dog Odie walked along the Hudson river, she and Odie enjoyed it and now she wants to do more of them.
I hope everyone has a good Monday either at work or out hunting or fishing!

Not getting the guessed amount of rain did not break my heart. There was up to 8 inches of rain along I 94 in the southern lower. One small dam was breached by the flood waters. The deck is wet so we got some more rain overnight. Still no frost in sight.

Bud
Pick up a small can of cat food to bait the trap. Put it in a position that the coon can not reach through the trap from the back end to get at it. Put a stake through the trap so the coon can not roll it over and get out.

I can not believe that the bow hunters in NY state let the muzzle loader season be this early. In Michigan the muzzy season is not until December. Our regular firearms season starts November 15 through the end of the month. if the bow hunters could get away with changing firearms the would put it after Thanksgiving at the earliest.. They want all of the rut to themselves.

Mr C  I was not joking about trying a rain dance. Maybe that is why they got so much rain in the south. There are quite a few Indian casinos down in that area.

G'morning ERs!  A little late to the party, but I decided to wait and post from a regular keyboard at work.  Steve, yes the lake is private; a POA.  My grandparents (dad's parents) purchased a lot when the lake was initially developed in 1968 and bought and sold various properties throughout the years following.  I have been fishing the lake since I was 8 or 9.  In '85, my grandmother deeded the last two lots she owned to me and in '90, I sold those two lots and used the $$ for a down payment on a home there.  So now, I have lived there for 27 years as well.

Good Morning. 47 and windy this morning. Spent yesterday moving things around in the garage so I can get the boat into it. Bowled last night. I had 2 good games and the second game I couldn't hit  a thing. 86 But still ended up one pin over my average for the night. May go into the woods later this morning, just to say I hunted...lol. Trip to NYC on Tuesday. Visiting nurse is coming this morning. Have a good Monday...h2l

Good day everyone still riding the temperature roller coaster today and tomorrow highs in the fifties ,thirties for morning low on Tuesday then back into the seventies for day time high on Wednesday.
Eddie hope you can find the Tactical Gear Ice Guide without to much hassle. There may have been a few high temperature records set on Sunday in parts of NY. I was under the impression terrazzo was a type of cast tile not a poured product like concrete learn something new all the time.
Whopper Stopper my mom was the same way with Halloween candy between the town curfew and living on a dead end street off of a state highway we had numerous years with no visitors yet she always had to buy a couple bags of candy.
Ice Wanderer this weekend was good weather to be outside I'm sure Odie enjoy the new sights and smells present on your walk.
Mr. Turkey wish I had a solution to your rain shortage. I'm sure there are many bow hunters not happy about the way big game hunting seasons are structured here in NY. they put up a big fight over use of crossbows. They were only classified as legal to use during bow season a couple years back the bow and muzzle loader hunters do get a second season after riffle /shotgun season ends to harvest a deer if they have not already filled their tag.
Deal Ninja it will not be an easy task but the POA could push catch and release of the bigger crappies. They also might be able to get special regulations for the lake which would lower the number of fish you can keep per day. There will be a fight to get either of these ideas implemented many people don't like change .
Hunts2long a safe trip to NYC tomorrow . All the best if you hunt today.

Have a safe day folks.

Good Morning Everyone

The temps continue to climb and they are still saying 70 degrees by Saturday :cookoo:

Yesterday took an unexpected turn when we were sent to a job just a short ways from my house. The job was removing 14 oak trees to make room for some new construction. The trees were all about 18”-24” diameter and straight as an arrow. The boss asked me if I wanted a couple loads as it would save having to haul it back into the jungle ??? I need more wood like a submarine needs a screen door, but it was too good to pass up. I ended up getting close to 8 cords of oak delivered and put on a nicely stacked pile in my far back yard. I already have about 3 years’ worth that’s split, dried and ready to go, so I may have to sell some, although I hate doing that.

I am posting the wife’s pumpkin handy work.  She actually bought kits at the Dollar Tree and had them done in about 5 minutes. She used to spend about an hour apiece carving the darn things, this is much better for all of us

Time to fire up the Old Buick for its last trip of the week, tonight it gets dropped off for an oil change tomorrow.

Have a Great day no matter what’s on the agenda. Stay safe!

Good Morning Everyone,
We've got frost on the pumpkins this am!!
32* and calm winds as I type, high of 53 expected today. Just let my dogs out and can see that beautiful glitter of frosty diamonds on the roof of my truck...great start to the day!

Mike..I picked up a copy yesterday at Walmart on my drive home, thanks for sharing! Glad I got it when I did, only 2 copies were there...
Steve..yes, the terrazzo is a poured product. We make our own, no trucks necessary, with a few big concrete mixers in our shop...a special blend of certain stones, white Portland cement and sand are mixed. After placing it, we then use another special blend of stones which we broadcast on top and float in. The following day after setting, the big floor grinders begin to mill down the concrete and expose the aggregates. In a nutshell, there are several different grinding phases it will go through with diamond grinders to get it to the proper finish before being buffed and polished. Hope to get some pictures up soon of a completed area start to finish.
H2...did you get out in the woods yesterday?  Safe travels to and from the City today, best wishes to your wife on her appt.
Tom...here's a page out of our hunting seasons/regulations...http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28605.html
Jeff..sounds like a nice way to spend some time at the nature preserve, excellent! Hope you see a nice one this morning!
   Bud..how was your hunting yesterday?
Marv..have a safe day today, hope your hands and knee are holding up ok Sir!

Running short on time, but will see what everyone's up to on my break...the Yankees won last evening!!
  Cawfee's on....
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

Mornin Marv....the pumpkins look great!!       Have a great day, nice job on the extra fire wood!

Good Morning ER's  No bandit sightings,  One of the neighbors not far away mentioned having a bandit problem last year,  That they decided to move in, tearing up some roof to make a den on their garage roof,  They had a pro critter trapper outfit trap them for removal.

Mrs wants to make a trip to the store before I go to work so think I better forget hooking up the boat.  :nono:

Think I would want to keep that oak too Marv ;D Have fun in the jungle.

Good day all,

                 Good morning ER's,
It's 30* and clear here on my hill, I haven't been out yet but I'm sure there is frost in my yard.
Eddie......I haven't been out in the morning to hunt yet but I have in the afternoon, yesterday I
saw 4 does on was a nice size but I couldn't get a good sighting on it so I let them go. If I see here again
and can put a good bead on her she's mine.
Marv.......It takes 2 years for oak to dry out so if you leave it log length for a year then cut it up
it should be good to go. :flex:
Steve.......Yep Odie was all over the place smelling and marking his territory. We are planning to
go to another preserve today. ;D

Finally thanks to Raq I am able to post.

Still no frost. 41* this morning. SSW winds this morning so not looing for a cool down

Headed over to pick up the van and do some more work at the other place for a couple of days. I had to have an A1C done after my Dr's appointment yesterday. Down 1 point to 6.6 from 6.7. Happy to see it did not go up as I have been cheating a little on my diet lately.

See every one in a few days.

Morning all,

Guess the gremlins are catching......I keep getting the boot for some reason  :%$#!:  27* @ 6 this morning but a warm up starts again today thru the weekend with temps hitting the mid 70s by Thursday   Hit the lake yesterday morning.......a bit on the chilly side all day with clouds, wind and drizzle on & off. Temps never made it out of the 40s  :cookoo:  managed 1 walleye 18" & 12 crappies from 10" to just shy of 14"  ;D  filleted them for an older couple that loves fish but don't get out anymore.

WS....those are some mighty cute pumpkins   always good to have some extra wood stacked just in case  ;)
H2L....safe travels today sir  :)  best wishes for a good report
TT....hope the van is good to go now  :)  good job on the A1C report
IW.....nice morning to be in the woods today  ;)2
Eddie....looking forward to the pics of your work  :)
OS.....hope you have a good day on the job  ;)
IFF....those bandits do love raw fish or chicken, but they are smart enough most times to stay out of the traps,  they just reach in thru the sides & pull out the bait  :%$#!:

Have a good day at work or play. Stay safe.

Good evening folks cold start to the day here also frost on car windows but none on the ground when I left work at 5 AM. I'm waiting to see our favorite word "ice" show up on my temperature display in vehicle. Like Wallyworld's area weather guessers calling for a warm up by Thursday lasting through the weekend.
Eddie thank you for explaining basics of how terrazzo flooring is made and installed. Sounds like a lot of work put assume it is a very durable surface holding up for many years.
Whopper Stopper nice score on the oak good to have a stock pile of fire wood. Just a thought maybe you can pass on some of your seasoned ready to burn wood to any elderly neighbors or make a visit to your friend  Oliver if he burns wood.  Tell your wife nice job on the pumpkins hope you get a few guests this Halloween to see her handy work.
OldSailor I do the same when I get home from work in the morning ,some days I'm falling a sleep while trying to read or reply to a post.
IFF is it possible to wire thin sheets of metal to your trap by the food so raccoon has to enter the trap if it wants the food. They are clever creatures and can use their front paws similar to our hands.
Ice Wanderer you can not bring Odie but some time you should make a trip to the Wild Center in Tupper lake with your youngest grandchildren think they and you will enjoy the museum.
Mr.Turkey how is your van running after repairs? Good job with the a1c the coming holiday season must be a tough time of year for you to stick to diet.
Wallyworld nice of you to pass fish onto elderly neighbors who are not able to get out fishing.

A good evening to all.

Long day. Left at 3:30am and got home a 8:30pm. Lots of test and a lot of walking. Everything is fine. Stopped a couple of the meds she has been taking.
It was 29 and heavy frost when we left. Was going to go out in the woods in the morning but right now I need some rest. I will go out in the afternoon. Saw a lot of deer tonight along the Thruway...h2l

Good Morning Everyone,
  Happy Hump Day!!   ;D
Clear and calm 39* on the Hill this am, high in the mid 60's expected here today. Looks like the temperatures will be staying out of the freezing zone for the remainder of this week..sure was nice seeing some frost again yesterday anyway!

H2...that's great news on your wife!   Good luck with your hunt this afternoon!
Steve...you're welcome, yes it's a pretty time consuming process for sure. There's literally a small ocean of it throughout the entire Concourse area where we are currently working, believe it will be a never ending maintenance issue.
Wally..wtg sharing your catch with the older couple, that's awesome!    Looks like much better weather for the boat if you get out the rest of this week, hope you can find that school of hungry Walters!
Tom...congrats on the good #'s with the A1C, excellent! Hope the van was good to go..
Jeff..hope you get another crack at one today if you're heading out.   Has MW and his wife had a chance to get out yet?
Marv..hope your day went well yesterday, anything planned for today after the old Buick gets serviced?
Bud..any sign of the raccoon returning?

The Yankees came back last evening and tied up the ALDS with Houston at 2 games each...hope they can take another game at home tonight before heading back to Texas. Missed the game, my cable provider took that station and about 5 others away from me...although there is no reflection in my monthly bill aside from an increase....looking into smart TV now....about had enough of this foolishness.
Understand they will begin working on the ice skating rink starting today at the job site, Farmers Market day as well.
Cawfee's on...blueberry muffins under the dome this am, help yourself!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

Morning all,

IW.....congrats to MWs wife   good luck if you're headed out later
H2L.....phew that was a long day   glad your wife got another good report
Eddie....think that's called job security  ;)2
MrC...hoping yesterday's frost slows the grass down a bit, these warm sunny days has it growing like spring  ::)
WS....almost time to get back in the stand for a couple days
IFF.....did all your snow melt yet  ???

Looks like a few more summer type days headed our way. Thinking of doing an overnight bike trip somewhere, maybe Watkins Glen  @)  not sure if the foliage is any brighter out that way or not  :-\  Or might stay around home & fish, so many choices  ;D

Have a good day at work or play. Stay safe.

Good morning early risers another cool over night rest of week high temperatures forecast to be in the seventies and plenty of sun shine.
Hunts2long good to hear your wife received another good report from her doctors. The two of you had a long day of travel happy to read you made it home safely.
Eddie I go through the same thing my  cable company believe they charge the various channels/networks a yearly fee to carry and broadcast the channels on the cable system. You present work sight sure has you masons working on all kinds of projects.
OldSailor believe Ice Wanderer is correct I have sent Yoopergirl a couple of personal messages and receive no reply back from her.
Ice Wanderer congratulations to Mealworm's wife on her deer. I think your wife would enjoy the wild Center . Another good museum up your way is the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake believe it closes for the season on Columbus day. Lots of exhibits and walking as you learn about history og Adirondacks.
Wallyworld believe this is an off year for Fall foliage I would check any web sites that track color change around NY. before making to long of a trip.
Icefisher-45 hope you and the family are adjusting to life without your mother.

A safe and good Wednesday to everyone. Best to all fishing and hunting.
Steve

Good Morning ER's  At first I thought **censored**, no reply button ?....Then see I was not logged in was the cause

WW oh yeah snow has been gone for days what with it being in the 70's  So much for trip to lake this morning.  Someone forgot to plug in the battery chargers  ::)  upper 50's this morning, calm, See a posting on FB of some nice eyes being caught  :'( Also forgot I have metal in the pickup that needs to go to salvage, Leaves in the gutters need to be removed, Most all trees out front leaves are down from the Ash trees.  So looks like day off better be spent on getting things ship shape.  Will have to maybe squeeze in a quick morning at the lake before having to head to work one of the days I go in at 3:00

No raccoon sighting lately.  Just pesky squirrels.

well burning day light.  Take care all.

Good Morning ER's congrats to MW wife on her deer. WS nice wood stash you got going. Eddie interesting process going on there. I too miss YG posting. WW nice of you to give the crappies away 14 getting pretty big. WS hope the next trip works out for you not sure if I could sit all day. H2L that is a long day hope you got some rest. It's still hot here however I did get on a gill bite yesterday not sure if it's the tail end or beginning of it but it looks to be the start based on my fingers not getting cold. I kept a few to eat and they were great fillets. Some were getting there 8's and 9's should get only better now. Have a great day to all.
