Jumbo perch to start winter
« on: Dec 23, 2019, 07:34 PM »
Go onto some good perch fishing with my son today, we landed over 5 dozen in half day outing. Unfortunately, most had worms in them, we ended up keeping 7 clean ones for the table. One of these big females had a small Largemouth bass in it's stomach.

So are the worms visible externally, or do you have to expose the meat to see them?  Sounds a bit gross.

When they are infested, you can spot them on the outside of the tail, fins, and in the throat, gills. Prevents you from having to kill them for nothing.

I have the same problems with perch, in the McLaren Bay out of the Ottawa River they are infested on the River itself or at the Leamy Lake out of the Gatineau River they are ok. Next year winter 2020-2021 it would be nice for me to go fish with you one of these day if you do not mind.
