I haven't been out on the ice yet but there is a LOT of snow out there. I would imagine that the slush is going to be deep for a while. There was a flashlight out there when I was driving home tonight so there was at least one person out on the ice.

Before the snow started earlier this week the ice in the bay varied greatly. One spot had 3-5in of ice the next spot could be 1.5-2 so be very careful and spud your way out.

Any ice thickness updates with the frigid temps of the last few days? Solid enough for a snowmobile yet? Seen a few shantys out...

There are people taking machines out to the humps from the looks of it. There is tons of snow out there so the ice has a lot of insulation on it and I don't know how good it is. I haven't gotten up the nerve to go out there yet. I tried Otter Lake this week and the slush was about 4" deep under the snow. I'm sure Chassell Bay is at least as bad. I haven't seen anyone out to the eastern side yet nor have I seen anyone fishing along the north shore (the bay side of the point). I drive by there every day in the morning but it is dark when I get home so I don't see anything then.

I snowshoed across the bay from the park out to the crappie water in the Eastern half.  Yesterday's wind packed the top snow tight enough to stay out of the slush but without them it's wet feet.  The ice is variable; some spots no more than two layers of frozen slush.  A couple of good pokes and I was through both.  Where I fished I had 13" of layered ice with a decent bottom.  There were snowmobiles running their trail from the park to the East side with no trouble but I would not put a 4wheeler out there yet.  Didn't find any crappie out there either.  Caught a few undersized Pike by the pilings on the way back.  If you go, avoid the newly frozen slush areas and use the trail as much as possible.
