sandy pond is my fav spot when im not on oneida. Cant wat to do the 2man derby. its gonna be fun,.....we have pulled a 6lb steelhead up thru ice there,......if its not good,....guys have been out in the usuall walleye spots today

Buddy of mine said he saw a few guys walk out at old wigwam spud a few feet turn right back around n head in..... Safe ice maybe this weekend I hope

Derby is coming up fast. Someone tell that wind and snow to go north in a band to Canada, they like our bands.

Only prayer to help the ice making with all this snow is that the wind is hummin. Gonna be one of those years where it's a never ending battle with the snow. BTW for those of you that we're wondering, Yes I'm still alive. Lol

Checked wigwam and GP this morning both were bad news.... Saw nobody on the ice either which is good lots of snow and slush!

How's the Sandy Creek Fire Department raffle going?
I have a ticket number over 100.

For those that don't know only $10. Only 300 tickets sold.
2 shanties & a nils auger for prizes
Great department.

Between 6" and 12" of snow cover didn't venture far out 3 wacks of my spud went through everything! As for the raffle tickets you can get them at the Sandy Pond Sportsman Association down at the bar, Bartel Rd Bait and Tackle has them and lastly any Sandy Creek Firefighter can get them for you. WE THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT!

I got mine at Bartel rd bait and tackle. Right on Bartel rd.
I guess you can also get them from any firefighter if you ask.
But Bartel rd bait has them in an envelope right at the register

I would like to go on the road for a day and sell tickets no ice shows this year so idk where to go yet and suggestions of places to go? I plan on keeping them on me once I'm on the ice I'll make sure everyone knows what my ice rig looks like that way you can buy them on the ice!

fished Green Point today,ice was ok,not great but ok,there were a couple other people out there too
THERE ARE KEEPER PERCH IN THE POND!I CAUGHT ONE TODAY!!
got a few gills,bunch of dinks,
have to do some more exploring next weekend,
Lowrance elite 4x on the way,stoked to get it on the ice,and get it dialed in!
Probobly getting laid off this week,money sucks,but lots of time to fish,

Ok so here is the good bad and the ugly.... Me and a fellow firefighter took to the ice this afternoon in search of bad ice for our training tomorrow night. Went to the elms about 2 dozen shacks ice was ok... Between 3" and 7" of mixed ice. Snow-slush-white ice-water-black ice, no machines out there
Saw about six shanties out of seber shores did not stop
Wig-Wam saw tracks heading out and what looked like marks from a wheeler that attempted it about 100' off shore ice got real bad 2 wacks of the spud and I was through
Last stop was the South Bay by the south-north pond connector channel it is bad news not really surprised though lots of dark wet spots some open water. Needless to say that is where we will be doing our ice water rescue training tomorrow night

With all this said I saw nobody with a spud today...

people please respect the ice she's a mean cold hearted animal and she will bite you! Use a spud bring a PFD and a buddy

Seems the best ice is on the north side but I can't vouch for GP I didn't check
