When I left for work this morning at 7 am there was quite a bit of open water on the pond, mostly over by the beach (west shore), but with the south wind, I expect it will continue to break up as long as she keeps blowing.

As expected, the Mad River Club kids derby has been cancelled this weekend as well. Looks like my clan and I will not be making the trek North this weekend.  The camp will sit vacant for yet another weekend.

Green Point just said its water near shore and the ice has been raised up very high.....  Maybe this will let the jacks in the channel a little easier... Looks like a northbound trip this weekend... Chaumont hopefully....

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land.  It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.  ~Chuck Clark

A followup to all of us who were going to make a trip up to Chaumont this week end. Read the ice conditions and reports for Chaumont Bay and environs. There are some very good reports being given out by the very people who live and fish there.

Full reports will be soon forthcoming...just got to have daylight to verify conditions..

Thanks, Boggey and my apologies for being so absent, work and the kiddo infringe greatly on my free time, plus, well, no ice last winter.
This morning found the pond high, rocks that are normally visible from my house are underwater, Lindsey Creek is overflowing at Sandy Pond Corners and we only had a skim of ice on shore.  Wind blew like crazy last night and I think the ice caught over by the beach where it was wide open yesterday, but still far from safe (at least in my amateur opinion).

For those that know the Pond much better than I do... given that it's open now, but that we've got a week full of temps below freezing, with some single digit lows, do you think it'll be locked up by next Saturday (the 9th)?

Tough to say , check ahead . Lots of things could change between now and then .
