Anyone find my auger I left out by the channel late saturday morning? Drilled a hole & ice broke for a 30' circle around me- left auger stuck & standing out of the hole that started it all. Just wondering if anybody got it without going through.  Oh yeah- it was after the fact that my buddies I was meeting up with ask me -- why the hell were you out that close??!!??  Live & learn I guess

I've heard Green Point has been pretty good... Check the Sandy Pond thread there's all sorts of good info there. Oneida seems to be heating up pretty well as of recent. Good luck.

No ya can't but they will all be quick to ask "how's the ice", "where are they biting", & then the ole why do you have to post anything besides fish locations? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???   The go anywhere near there???????
Thank your lucky stars bud you were sitting there to post about your auger, whether you're a Christian or not doesn't matter someone was looking out for you.

Yup all the newbies are right, the regulars were warning about conditions just to keep you away. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

If we're going to have a spare anything, perhaps a spare set of common sense prior to doing something so stupid?

i will say this one time only: use your head if you decide to out on the ice. it is NOT like last year at all. we do NOT have 20" of ice to walk on there is only 6"-3" out there at best. the cracks and water have the ice un safe in spots. stay away from the islands also. jmo

I'm gonna check out Williams Beach tomorrow am. I'll post ice thickness when I get off. With the temperature drop tonight down in the 20's it should tighten up a bit before morning. The high for tomorrow is 32... Just check the ice as you go and for sure have PFD on and spikes around the neck... ;D
