I am so frustrated. I have been waiting for ice since june! I cannot believe that pic of the pond. I am torn. I just want to get out there and do some ice fishing for cryin out loud! What are your guys predictions on when the pond will have safe ice? I see its gonna be real cold tomorrow but i also am seeing upper 30s for highs coming up with lows in the mid 20s by toward the end of the week. I just am starting to get MAD

my notes from 2006-007, a winter simillar too this one, says steelhead spawning in orwell and south sandy last week of december, well that happened this year also, it also says sandy pond locked on the 17th of January from a minus 07 degree morning, I was fishing wig wams  on 4 inches of ice jan. 21st.. Oneida locked the 25th, fished Feb 1st on 5 inches until march 25th that year, my notes also say I fished wig wams til 30th after I left Oneida. 18inces of ice on the 26th of march..winter started late but lingered longer that year.

I wish 8 months out of the year was hunting season and winter, and the other 4 months i spent wishing it was time!

Do you live up there?

We only got 3 inches here in Altmar, sandy pond was bare. I took a ride up to Pipeline rd. on the Redfield Reservoir...4-5 inches at best... Alot of rocks showing on the trails.......You might be able to trailer your sleds up to Cedar pines and hop on C4 to C8 and find some snow near Flatrock, but I bet that's still a nightmare.

Thanks for the snow report cnyiceboy.

Sounds about right, but with no old snowpack, you'll be tearin up the mud as you know til you get up top.  No groomers out yet.

I love working down in Syracuse after growing up in Osceola/Camden area and listening to all the City folks talk about how much snow we got down here ( maybe 5 inches ) and how there got blasted up north and there doing to go ride. People wonder why there sled brakes and there beat to crap after a year. Go ride through Florence and Osceola right now through the unfroze ground and mudholes. Sorry for the rant just one of those days

Looks like Little John was the bullseye then, everywhere around it didn't get that....good news though, that's the main drainage area for the north branchs.  C5A should be rideable......I don't know how many times I drove up there to get a broke down lodgers sled in the old days.. Lake effect Inn still open? , that was always a pit stop on my way up there.

Just noticed my temp went from zero to 08 above in the last 2 hours...sure enough the winds are starting to switch to a westerly component....weak lake bands are forming in our area, there goes our cold night...... :'(

I know you guys are waiting for someone to report hour by hour conditions, as am I. It won't be me this year as I unretired, I'm a working stiff, week end warrior like the rest of you.  I was hopeful Green Point had locked up at least. Any new news Franky? By the way are we still on for Friday night?
I will try to get there tonight. Yes we are on for friday night we will fish there or another spot.

Look on page 26 of the pics Snagger took 2 days ago, I think you need to go elsewhere for a bit. Page 26 half way down.
