Title: Overlapping holes?
Post by: SirCranksalot on Nov 28, 2019, 03:19 PM
I have a Normark Swede bore shaver blade type of auger that I used with a drill last year. It won't cut overlapping holes. I also have a manual finbore that I can, with a mod to add a connecting piece, use with the drill. Will it  allow me to cut those holes? thx;

Does the Finbore have a centering point? I believe that is what enables an auger to cut overlapping holes.

 I over lap holes with my laser and my nils with no power point

The trick is how to start.  I always start with two shallow overlapping.  That way the ice chips don't interfere when trying to start the second hole.

Also try not to break through with first hole, but always try to get close to breaking through.  Much easier than sloshing all that water from second hole on the finishing break through.

took  a few years but bent my 6" lazer doing just that. installed new blades to confirm. had to replace it. old one could be tuned back into shape if there is a way to get it right such as a jig like nills uses.
