Here you go Oak
« on: Dec 05, 2005, 06:38 PM »
You wanted to see pics of the sled I was building to get my Shappell off the ground. It was hard pulling the hut in the snow with all my stuff on it, and no matter how well I thought i had things bungied, I always managed to have something fall off. Was always looking behind me. This sled is nothing to look at, but it should be functional. The skis were on a box I used to use but couldn't quite get everything in it. It was quite a bit heavier than the frame of this one. The hut sits on a PVC base and acts as the bottom on which my gear will sit. The sides come off for easy transport to and from ice. The thing is made almost entirely of scraps I had laying around the house and business. The only things I bought were the eyebolts, L Brackets, screws, nuts and bolts, aluminum channel, and paint.

Frame pieces of PVC ready to be glued together

Leg units of 2x8 & 2x2

Front and Side piece

Frame and skis attached to legs

With hut

With sides attached and ready to go

The sides might be a little high. (My wife accuses me of overkill on all my projects.) I will wait till her maiden voyage to see if they should be trimmed down.

9 1/2 inches to the bottom of the PVC frame.
