Ice Hopper Tight Line Pro Reel from Sportsman Direct.
Does anyone have one of these reels.
Are they any good?

Wow 85 views and no one has tried this reel.

I have one, but haven't used it too much. I prefer my No. 8 tackle CGI and my 13 Fishing Descent reels to it. The free spool switch seems kinda flimsy on mine.

Thanks laer this is the info I'm looking for.
I also have 2 CGI''s, they are the main reels I use. I was wondering if the free fall on the hopper would be a good choice.

I would buy from SDI over no8/13/one three fishing any day

Yep, I've bought other items from them in the past and haven't been disappointed at all. With this particular reel, the position of the switch that activates the free spool function seems a bit flimsy, like it seems a little too loose, and it didn't engage/disengage as well as I would have liked, at least on the one I received, maybe others have had better luck with that. I also don't like the placement of that switch. I like the design of the other two reels I mentioned better. Just my opinion. As a business, Sportsman's Direct offers great service and has great pricing on their otherwise high quality products.

I completely agree with laer302 about the reel, and that Sportsmen's Direct is good to business with.

I have one and don’t really care for it. Seems like I have trouble with line jumping off the spool and going into the gears. Also the switch is flimsy and usually only partially locks back in. You have to back reel and reel forward hard and fast to get it back to where it needs to be. I know it’s more money but if that’s something your looking for get the 13 fishing ghost. I have one of those as well and it’s really nice. Also the right line pro has awful placement of their switch, not very user friendly.

I agree. I have two tightline pro reels and also have trouble with the line jumping off the spoil and getting in the gears.
