Devils lake ice fishing

Hello. I'm going there this season and would like to get some information from somebody that has been there.I'm wondering about places to stay and guide's? Thanks

I grew up fishing Devils Lake and go back there a couple times a year.  Woodland Resort is the best place to stay in my opinion and I would check out Perch Patrol for a guide service.

Thanks Jason. I was leaning towards woodland. I'm grew up in Powell. Live in Wheatland now. I miss the country up there. Hope you have a good ice season!

When are you going up?  In my opinion first ice (early January) and late ice (end of March) are the best but anytime up there is good.

Only positive about my woodland experience was there's a restaurant and perch patrol I believe will pick you up there. Fished with the Jason Mitchell guide service this summer and stayed in woodland thought it was pretty awful. Fishing guides were great tho. Fished with Zippy Dahl who runs perch patrol and had a lot of fun.

Woodland's is a great spot to stay. Centrally located, food, bar, bait. If you DIY stay off the ice near the bridges. There are fish everywhere.  We fish shallow during the morning and afternoons for walleyes and pike, and fish perch deep during the day 20-50'. Access is good. Generally can drive on the lake after Jan 1. The guides are connected, so you'll up your odds by getting one, but don't be afraid to go without one. If they get a lot of snow it makes getting around a lot tougher. No need to fish after dark on that lake

We try to make it out there every year. We'll usually fish Devil's in the morning for walleye anywhere from 7-18' and then drive over to nearby Lake Alice for pike in the evenings with the occasional walleye thrown in. Always a good time.
