« on: Feb 08, 2020, 07:28 PM »
5 total holes and it smoked my 2704. It's about 2 1/2 years old and only seen household duty. PIZZED!

Using it on drill setting or hammer drill setting?

its under warranty. hopefully you bought it from an authorized retailer.

meanwhile buy another one from home depot and return it when your drill is fixed. they have a 90 day hassle free return policy. they only ask if any thing is wrong with it.

Milwaukee is great with customer service. I returned a battery (5.0) , no receipt no questions they replaced it free of charge (no pun intended) just contact them and tell them you want it warrantied. I bet they do it no questions.

Do I dare tell them it fried on an auger or will they say that’s not an authorized use. Might as well not say if they don’t ask. Now, if I can find the receipt. When I think back it has had a lot of use but nowhere near like a contractor would.

Just tell them you were drilling when smoke came out of it.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the 2407-22 was discontinued in August of 2018. Don’t know how it affects the warranty. Good luck!

It's under warranty, they'll replace it. No worries. Like said above, buy one as a loaner if you need it ASAP.

Hey Hawg,

Here’s the link to the Milwaukee warranty. I burned one up framing a floor. Completed the online registration. After filing out a claim they gave me a pre-printed label, I shipped it to them and had it back in less than 3 weeks.

Forgot my password to Milwaukee, I've registered lots of things so I know I have one. I've clicked the forgot password every 5 minutes, they say email sent, but it never comes. Problems on weekend kind of suck. Oh well everybody needs time off but computers should still work there for automatic reply's.🤷‍♂️ Not a big deal, tomorrow is soon enough.

Mine was a rebuild. Depends on what the issue was.

Thankfully it was my picture hanger and not my ice fishing drill. 3 weeks didn’t offend me, as it wasn’t ice fishing. Although I have the 1200 inch/lb model for drilling holes

. Ridgid Octane has a lifetime warranty.  My opinion is if you are turning a spool bigger than 7" and lots of reps no bat. powered drill has the guts to last very long especially when drilling 18' to 24" of ice. Go with a gasser or propane drill...more torque capability and stronger gear box.

check their web page for local authorized repair centers and grab your receipt and bring it to them. my milwaukee impact was done in 10 days. trigger switch was bad and has happened to others on here.

what size auger took yours out?

I have the 2703, the drill equivalent to the 2704 hammer. Haven’t had any issues with an 8” auger.

I feel for you, sucks no doubt!

Yup when it smells you burned the brushes and most likely windings in the motor.Newer brushless models handle  augers way better.Remember they were only designed for drill bits.....just not 6"-8" ones lol
