crappies on glo jigs
« on: Feb 08, 2020, 11:15 PM »
slayed some nice 4 to a plate crappies today.

18 fow off the bottom  little green level glo jigs and a grub
had hit the jig with a uv  and dead stick it
if you were wiggling your bait no fish ,minnows no fish
they would just add a little weight to the line ,needed the vex to see em

clear day clouds and a slight low pressure coming  middle of the day temp in the 30s wind out of the south west 11mph
nice day for sure   limited in a couple hours

I was listening to a podcast this morning while walking the dog. Speaker recommended fishing higher in the water column. Sonar cone much smaller as you get more shallow and will be missing fish in the area.

there are several aquatic insects that glow.(most green)  most likely you have some in your waters that the fish like.

Yep last Saturday flasher was lit up! Could get them to come up but no takers! Finally set the rod down to take a drink and bang. So pretty much got it down to where they were and let them take it! One after another till I left!
Keep it safe! JDL

So...by dead stick, you you just leave your jig and plastic on the bottom...and don’t move it ?

Yes, but not on bottom.  Generally you try to keep the 'deadstick' bait above the level where you think the fish will come in from.  Again, generally, fish are looking up to feed, so they will have a better chance of spotting your jig if it is above their level.

Interesting tonight I was using a jig rap for walleye, had a mark come in and I slowed down. Got a hit and it was a big crappie

I need to try the dead stick method

just curious what brand little green jig did you have on

Dead sticking with fathead minnows is a must for crappie fishing.

What is the rod holder of choice ....for dead sticking ?
