perch rigs question
« on: Jan 30, 2013, 09:39 PM »
I bought a pack of  the perch rigs , it has a snap on bottom for a sinker & 2 hooks 1 over top of the other ...
has anybody used these things ? what do you bait with 2 minnows they seem like they will tangle ?
does anybody actually use this set up ?  thanks

Sounds almost like a dual dropshot rig. Ive used it with minnows before and had decent luck. Normally my hooks are tied directly to the line so i dont usually get any tangling. Maybe a pic of what you have may better help to see what your working with

yep...they work...we rig our own, and as TeeBug said we tie a small jig or fly directly to line without a tagline...
put some sort of bait on, and what you prefer for weight, we go with three quarter or one ounce bell type sinkers...crank your drag right down and hammer em....

Sounds like a pickerel or crappie rig.

I've used them on Lake MI for open water perch and had many doubles. I would think that they would be the opposite of finesse fishing and wouldn't be my cup of tea for icing perch. Just my opinion however!

You could prob make something similar with a dual drop shot rig like guys use for bass. Idk how small of hooks you can buy for drop shotting. See what u can find

Baited  with live minnows or worms they work great when fish are aggressive. When fish are finicky forget it. Also never had luck with them in real clear water.
It's more important to be nice, than it is nice to be important.
