Do Chittenden dam. Lots of perch to view and can do deep and shallow. It will get you familiar with your unit.

Thanks Dick , I'm not a commercial fisherman. I might get out a 1/2 dozen times and just hope to get a couple of good meals. I gave up the trap fishing when the walleye population went south. Took up jigging and just want to be able to catch some fish. The flasher is definitely a toy for me not a necessity. The bottom line is better than nothing is the way I'm looking at it. I'm am an Ultra Sonics technician and the specs were better than some that were out there. I have nor never will sell a fish to recover my investment. I just go for the fresh air a little exercise and fun.

I am like you.just out for the enjoyment.if i was catching
Buckets i might sell most of them.but generally i dont
Do that well.the flasher puts a whole other aspect.
Maximizes my time out on the ice i think.although
It can be frustrating to see fish come up to your jig
And not bite.makes me try different baits to see
If i can get them to commit.maybe i spend more
Time at the holes with fish than i would without the flasher.
But the fun is in the fooling. :)

I think a flasher with zoom is for the fisherman who only gets out a few times BUT needs to locate bottom hugging perch quickly!
Make a bunch of holes and then check them for on zoom for marks ( most likely perch) .   Drop jig and worm to bottom and bounce a little.
Lift it a foot and watch for marks rising to jigs.  If no marks move to another hole.  Once you find perch you might as well unfold your chair and spend some time catching them.    End of the day is best for bigger perch??
