Don’t go through there. There’s bubblers on the town docks that weaken the ice. If you walk near there, you will go through. If you want to get to Bolton Bay or Huddle Bay, go through Bixby Road. It’s just a little bit south of it. Be careful.

Thanks. Went out of Vets today and almost ended up in Oz. Will try Bixby tomorrow

Wind got insane around noon.
The shore wasn’t great. I imagine machines could get through but definitely jagged and some open water

We fished that general area w quads mon and tues w no issues. Not sure if anything changed since but had good ice. Always use your own discretion. Bottom half of hearthstone rd was iced up. We parked up top.

Probably just about the same size as a typical LG Perch too.
If you need me, I’ll be ripping Crappie lips on Brant Lake.

Unlike the brant crappies landed in the 2003 snow squall blitz of february 14th.  Those were larger than hubcaps.

Access at Vet's is almost gone.  There's a barrier across the path to the lake with a sign that says "NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES" and something about towing.  People are just ignoring and driving around it.  The 4 wheelers have broken through the ice immediately next to shore.  Happens every year. Hopefully we get a good a freeze to build up the ice bridge again.

Fished PK today. Lake was pretty empty, not sure why? Few large ridges on the ride north. Make sure you spud before crossing. Have been fortunate to get some frigid temps after the snow, but still can be treacherous. About 4-6” of powder I would say. Gorgeous day but fishing was sluggish. Couple trout. Rose a bunch but they would not chase. Responded better to bait falling more than rising but still would not bite on fall. Few we got were aggressive chasers. Headed to narrows tomorrow to try some new grounds. Stay safe, catch em up.

Fished the north end yesterday with similar results.  The bite was on fire before 8am.  I caught 3 in a hurry, but after that it shut down with fewer marks and then few of them chasing.  Agree that it was a beautiful day out there - about as good as it gets!

Anybody pull any of those elusive LG crappie through the ice yet this year??
Can I go fishing? Unless it’s on Brant, I can’t.

Sunday fished narrows. Wind was brutal and made moving a chore. Managed 1. Monday went south of pk and had 9 between three of us by 11. Had to head home from there and now I am in in Texas for work.

Been real fun LG. See ya open water.

Go to the king and chase ghosts or head a little further north to Brant and slay slab crappies....
..tough choice.
I'm not saying they're biting on Brant.  But they probably are

Is the shoreline access holding up?
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

Yes it is as long as they leave the bubbler off.
