Good news boys ….  I just booked a work trip in late January  ….  almost guarantees first ice will happen while i'm gone  ::)

Although it was originally scheduled for the first week in November so I figured I would miss the heart of the whitetail rut ….  but it got cancelled.
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

Looking back on my phone and my first perch limit in Bolton last year was 1/18. Very depressing be lucky to get on by 2/18 this year.  Going stir crazy tried bunny hunting in cap district and covered wit ticks. Only option left is the honey do list and I really don't want to go there!!

Unfortunately not, annual management meetings.  Apparently at Mall of America.  I'll need to fish when I return.

Still no ice on LG, but we can still scratch the itch a little.  Some footage from last season.  I could watch this all day :-)

Roger Houck out of Brant Lake NY just put another great informative video out.  Since I am not on the ice, figured I would brush up on some things to be ready.  Another good one!

Kind of wait and see with the cold snap.

Some are giving up hope its gonna freeze, a guy posted on another thread if it's not good by 2/15 chances are it wont be flushable thru ice this season

I hope I am wrong, but getting my son from school and drove along the lake a little bit ago, with this wind no way we make any progress, would take several weeks of teens and below with no wind, no snow etc. too many things would have to come together perfect and it just doesn't seem doable, which sticks for sure. Lots of folks losing $$ on winter events this year

Only takes a few calm nights with below 0 temps to lock up with water temperatures like this

I look at the cam from The Lake Hotel almost everyday. Not even a hint of ice (maybe a little over the pine tree on the left).

Does this part of the lake normally freeze?

Theres not even ice on the very north end in the shallows.  The wind along with the current coming out of the lake from the rains is to blame.  She was steaming like crazy this afternoon.  Let's hope the wind dies down tonight
