Had something really cool happen on Sunday.   Reeled up my jig to switch holes, and notice that my transducer got jostled as i pulled my jig out.   I look down and see the red and white fins of a real nice lake trout.   Drop my jig back down and he swings and misses.   Ended up watching and playing with this fish for about 2 minutes, watching him swim back and forth whacking my jig with his body and tail.   Finally, he came by and ate the thing, and I got 'em topside.   Super cool.

This guy was 33" and only 9.48 lbs.

Its only the end of January, I think you will see the weights of the lakers start increasing

I think this was asked recently but the weather changes. How is the road for hearthstone ? Can drive out of there without studded tires

Took 31.5" to get to 10lbs on the regular at Otsego back when it was good.     Your average 32.0" fish at Otsego

was around 10lbs 8oz...they would get thicker, but on the average thats what it was.

Although it wasnt close to our biggest there, we did land a fish that was 32.5" and 12lbs 8oz.... spectacular specimen and a great story

absolutely.   can't tell you how many times I pulled a fish through the hole there that broke my heart when I put it on a scale.   Loved that place back in the day.

Definitely. Those are what we used to chase every weekend! Someday it’ll get back to that point.

Also curious about this. Last I heard it was sanded and driveable.

I was told DEC sanded the hill at Hearthstone the other day. My buddy saw them at the town garage in Warrensburg loading the sand talking about it. They apparently got numerous complaints about the hill.

Ended up dragging this ol boy back to shore this morning. He made it out a couple hundred yards to the middle of the lake. Was cut up a little bit but he walked right off and should heal up fine.. got into some Lakers and saved a deer not a bad day.

That’s nuts . Did it fall into the water or just stuck on the glair ice ?

LOL.  I hate to admit it, but I got my biggest laker this year on a little tungsten jig while fishing for perch.  Spent most of day chasing lakers with plastics and landed/released the usual suspects which is a lot of fun, but got a big surprise when I switched over to perch fishing.  Downside was that it took forever to get him in with 3# test on my little fairy wand.  Not quite as big as the earlier post, but in 30 inch range. ;D
are you guys tipping those tungsten jigs with anything or straight up? Great info, thanks

New guy to lake george coming up sunday morning to try and get some perch...hopefully. Probably just going to be trying to jig them up. any info on a spot general area to start out. not looking for any secret spots just general location of access points. Will be on foot so that plays a role and what depth to look for. I have heard aboout little tungsten jigs, halis, and swedish pimps work pretty good. pm me if anyone would like or maybe someone wants a couple fishin buddies for the morn i would be game to meet some new peeps.

thanks
vern

still shocking all those fish we weighed, and all those 30" fish, none hit 10lbs...even a couple 31" fish were barely over 10.

Yes sir.  I like to think we've had a good sample size this year...over a few hundred....In Soviet Russia lake trout weighs you!
