I plan to buy a trailer just large enough to fit my machine asap.
Pile the gear and kids on it and get it out of the way.

Pretty sure most of the ice wil be fine, as it's just a 2 - 3 day warmup.  This time of year the "high" temp is not sustained as long each day, and it gets right back to being cold after the weekend.  The one inch of water will keep me away from inlets and outlets on lakes though

Seems like there will be a lot of run-off into MDB area from English and East/West Brooks. All that snow melting on mountains today, then 1-2" rain on top of it tomorrow. Flood warnings in the forecast. How is that going to affect things? Nothing melts ice like running water.

Forecast isn't stopping me...however some of the deep water did open up even more this morning.  It will keep the crowds at home I know that much!

Watch those stream mouth's, access points, and ridges over deep water.
Most of the bays should be fine.

You got it Jamey.  Saturday the temp is going to drop very quickly  and provided there are edges left...Sunday and Monday look nice!

I was just at Huletts Landing.  It looks like 95% of the snow has melted off the ice today.  The lake looks like a big, wet skating rink.  By tomorrow, the snow will certainly be all gone.  My friend's ice eater gained considerable ground over what it had been keeping open as of last week.  This makes me think that another hazard of this warm spell will be increased danger around the ice eaters and bubblers.

Be careful!

Tight lines,
Bob

I know...  ::)

It's on their boathouse which is on a section of private lakefront far from the road and with no public access anywhere nearby.

Tight lines,

Nice day today, warm and the big fish were biting: 25" salmon, kept for the grill, and a 30" laker, released.

Heading up there this Sunday with a friend to try my luck out there.  He's a regular on the lake and has been telling me I'll never want to go back to the dead sea after I fish LG.  Here's hoping!

FYI losing parking around the lake as it is definitely don't need to give anyone anymore reasons to close mare parking spots. People have to use there heads and get off the rds when parking and unless u have written permission stay off private property it's pretty simple really. By the way found a note on.my truck today telling me if I park where I did I will be towed and ticketed so apparently we (ice fisherman) have lost more parking.........just sayin
Then you have a legal  place to park like Vets Park and some Ass put a ice eater in front of his place when there are no docks
because he doesn't like ice fishermen, but in the summer he puts docks in and rents spaces out to boaters!

Do you guys think the lack of perch weeds in Sawmill Bay might be related to a natural cycle where they die back during the shortest days and then start to grow back as the days get longer?  On my lake (Saratoga) the weeds all but die in early winter but late ice they start to come back and fishing over them at that time is good.

But this doesn't explain why other perch beds on LG are unaffected.

Indeed.  I fished lakers from 12-2 after a couple hours of perchin and it was a great bite with most fish being keeper size or pretty close.  Trout were super aggressive.  Talked to a couple guys on the way back in who had caught two salmon.  Perch bite was good also but mostly dinks.  One of those beautiful days where no gloves required.  Measured a solid 10" of ice up to Tea island which is as far as I walked from the village.

Yea thanks I just had a feeling that Lance was going to be on the KING somewhere yesterday and I couldn't pass it up with the forecast.  Trout were running bigger than usual which is fine by me

Yesterday was a good day indeed, even for us amateurs! 🤪
Three of us put 32 fish on the ice and dropped at least that many! Rubber underwear day on some pretty thin ice!

Best of luck to all this weekend!

Way to get after em Mike!!!  That's a solid outing on the KING minus the thin ice :o   I'm hoping the rest of the lake sets up this month as we're usually not even fishing it for another week or two.

Looked like you had the place to yourself when I drove by around 10:00 there was not one car there. And your right about the weather I wish I would of waited a bit I got soaked walking out then soon after it wasn't to bad.
