View of the recently/?still open areas between Plum Pt and Diamond Island this morning before the snow started. There  were 2-3 of those dark lines across the whole lake that weren't there last night.

I know what you're saying, but that's the worst thing that could happen.  We don't want government to start deciding when we can and can't ice fish.
My Point!!!!  Not to mention the fact that most public officials are smart enough(or paranoid enough of lawsuits) to not comment either way. It is up to the individual to do his(or hers) due diligence in determining if the ice is safe enough for them.
A Government big enough to do anything for us is powerful enough to do anything to us!!!

Well this wind is a good thing... it looks like there is ice cover and hopefully this wind will remove a lot of the snow today. If we get a good cold night with little wind it should get better.

Lite wind tomorrow and cold night.  how much snow on the MDB area, hard to tell on the cam.  doesn't look like too many braving the wind today though.

because its a nasty slush bomb from the few i heard that were out this a.m.    Some spots near shore are losing ice right now, please use caution if your fishing areas near bubblers or with lots of slush on top.

How do you access Harris bay? Is it the yacht club? I'm only familiar with vets! Any info is greatly appreciated

People park at the back of the bay on 9L.   Make sure your car is off the road as far as possible.  FYI Its a pretty good hike to good water from there.

Word of caution about Harris.
As of Sunday. I had 8" of ice until the usual first ridge. There was only 3" beyond that ridge Sunday as the snow started to fall.
Proceed with great caution if you aren't familiar. The transition in ice is sure to be covered now. I'll bet that ice is no good with all of this snow on it now.
Know what's under you out there man.

I'm shocked we didn't read about someone going in this past weekend with the thin ice covered by snow ...  especially after reading that people were out all over out of MDB.

I do know one knucklehead who went in up to his knees in a creek near shore  ::)   .....  fortunately after an hour sitting in my shanty it dawned on me to take my shoes and socks off and hang them over my heater to dry. Before you knew it i was in my long underwear with my pants drying off too.

Lets be honest, its a freakin' miracle no one went swimming out there.

well that wouldn't have happened if the other knucklehead leading the way wouldn't have taken the "optional route"   My jet sled has a sweet new brown and black color scheme now.

Next time use the next pull off ... not much farther and the trail is way easier  ;)

Fishing wasn't much better Sunday but the dreaded skunk was nowhere to be found  ;D

I thought it was going to happen yesterday. A guy on a sled was driving along shore then when he got to the boats he turned and started going wide open up the lake. Luckily he turned around and never really slowed down.

If you are on Facebook like DeFranco Landscaping and Construction's page, they are updating daily and there is hope. I will be up there on Thursday and I'll report what I see.

It was only in a shallow creek - not the lake. I might have had more than wet socks if it was the lake  :o
