Prepping for open water season here too.

I do wonder what 2 mild winters like this with barely any ice does to the lake ecosystem. Deeper weedgrowth? More perch and lakers?

I wanted to get a new Marcum this year but its hard to justify spending the $$ when the season is too short. I guess I will invest for the boat electronics instead. Frustrating!!

Can i launch the boat from mossy?

You could put a boat in but couldnt get any where.  Its froze just south of the launch all the way to Ticonderoga beach.  Ice has veen there a while too.

That's why I bought a lowrance ice machine with a transom transducer rebate.  All year use

Hard to justify constant software updates too!  Garmin's new ice/boat unit has my attention...

Learning to love my garmin striker 7 only downfall is no zoom in flasher mode and still has that annoying delay associated with open water units thru vertically jigging

Yup that's not going to help anything! Hopefully there is enough wet ice on top to melt the snow for the cooler next couple days.

Snow is not going to help, but I'm more worried about the North wind tomorrow through Friday. We've already lost some ice on the west shore off the beach.

I wouldn't pit any faith into that forecast the weather guessers can't seem to get an accurate forecast even 12 hrs before let alone a few days out.the forecast has been way off for every storm we've had this year......just trying to be optimistic

I agree with you on the weather men. We were supposed to get 4" during this storm today and we are over 5" and still snowing cats and dogs.

You may be a realist but your pessimism is a big downer  ;D

I for one fully believe i will be jigging lakers this weekend....   may not happen but i prefer to be optomistic  @)

Was there a post about open water off the launch deleted??

The National Grid camera makes it look like there might be??

I saw that post too so you aren't seeing things. Brian (Fishyfishes) posted it about 2 open spots straight out from the launch.

Sorry, I was second guessing myself on whether or not I should've posted it. I don't want people to think there is enough ice. 1 whack with the spud i had water coming up. I'll repost it. Again, my apology.

Yeah, I have been watching it for the last 3 days and each day it has ripped wide open more...so everyone be cautious.
