If they're protecting a dock. There isn't much we can say or do.
I'd put a bubbler around a $5k dock too.
I take issue with the guy off Vets though. Rumor has it he moved his bubbler closer to the beach this year. I planned to cruise over there and take a look Saturday. I had other pressing matters that day.  ::)
I know, I understand the protection of the dock thing. It's just the uneasy feeling you get when you make the bend and see water where you walked on. My buddy said the town and Dec were there. Just figured they'd wait knowing people were out there. As for vets, like the bubbler wasn't close enough last year. That's f'n ridiculous! Why do people have to mess with access points. There they are trying to own the lake again.

As a result, I'll be thanking that Arctic Armor suit for the rest of my years man. The bibs preformed better than I ever could have imagined. I felt my legs start to float up behind me immediately after going through. Gave 2 hard kicks and bellied back up on the ice I came from. I've watched enough Youtube videos that these suit companies put out that it was all etched into my memory.
I'm kind of shocked how good of shape I was in when I finally got to my truck. The outer layer of my suit flash froze like a brick.

First off I'm glad that you're ok and congrats on your "fishing baptism". I have a question to ask. I have the same suite and one thing I noticed that outer layer during wet weather (rain or warm and snow) gets soaked with water. It does not repel water like the company claims it does. Is that the case with yours too? I was always wondering how it can float you if it is not water proof and soak water. Please let us know.
Thanks.

Fished today had to work a bit to get my limit. Walking wasnt as nice as monday and getting my limit wasn't nearly as quick. I took out a buddy who prior today was just a tipup guy. I drilled a hole within a few feet of mine so the fish finder showed both of our jigs. Well I think he's now hooked on jigging. Overall nice day on the King

Fished the king today, fish were very cooperative, limited by 10:30. Great to be out there, , didn't think it was going to happen this year.

When I was working on the end of assembly point  I didn't see anyone go out past where the new ice had formed. From shore it doesn't look good but when I walked out it was just the snow on top that looks like water logged ice black ice was still under hopefully after a couple cold nights it will tighten up for us

I went out pretty close to where the newer ice is but didn't venture past that like adktony said didn't see anyone past that area. There was an inch or so of slushy water/snowice on top of the good ice

Saw in the NY Outdoor News today DEC is proposing a 25 smelt possession limit for the King to be caught by angling only during the open season.  The reasoning was the smelt population is doing quite well.  That's a good sign for the salmon and people who like to eat smelt.

Last year a friend and myself were bailing perch, decent ones after dark...the smelt came in and pushed he perch out.  They were so thick you could almost grab them from the hole...most I've seen in one spot!

I checked Vets this afternoon, didn't fish, but there were several people out on the ice. I talked to a guy who was just leaving and he said there was 5" ice. Access looks pretty good.

I also checked Huddle Bay. Access from Huddle road is shot thanks to the two bubblers and and pressure ridge between the open water from the bubblers. Bixby rd access is a possibility, I didn't see open water, but I didn't have a spud so I didn't walk out to check any ice conditions. There were a couple guys out fishing, but they must have accessed from private property.
