I had the same experience as MJB today out on huddle. No one was out there besides 2 other guys. That walk was horrible. Every step, your in slush...and once your sled gets wet, its over. On the way in, some of the wind drifts were over 2' deep...there was no drifts when we went out at 7am.

fishing was bad also. Wasn't even worth it.

I had my medium jet sled, but I also had my 2 man pop up shanty that has a wood floor...its not light.

I need to pack lighter, but man it sucks to go out there without a shanty.

I dont know for the rest of the lake, but yesterday huddle bay had about 5" of slush under 8" of snow....and then in the afternoon, after the wind was blowing all day, that 8" of snow turned into snow drifts 24" deep.

I was out checking the conditions yesterday and looked up the lake and saw a large bird circling, knew right away it was a bald eagle, eventually it headed my went and went overhead and to the south.

Yes, lots of water and slush near shore and deeper snow out in the middle.

I went out on Huddle on Monday during the storm.  All I can say is have at it.  The drag is just that.  To top it all off, the bite was stinking lousy.

yup. The bite was horrible for me yesterday as well. I came home with 18 jumbo's. Thats it. We didnt even catch enough perch for sorting. The ones we caught, did count but all together between me and my buddy, I dont think we caught over 60 perch....from 7am until 3pm. Ton's of chasing, but man they had lock jaw.

We need -20 to cure the slush issue, sounds aweful out there! I hope there isnt any where I'm going on Sunday and Monday, God bless Presidents' Day!!

It is a little funny to me that everyone on this site seems to call Lake George "the King". Obviously George was a king of England, but the lake is known as the "Queen of American Lakes". Just sayin...

My son and I made the drag out of Vets on Tuesday....for some reason my post didn't go thru yesterday.
It was probably the worst drag I've ever made before. Like SS mentioned, 5-6" slush in many spots with 8-24" of snow everywhere on top, no trails to follow.....just plain tough.
It took us an hour and a half from the parking lot to reach 70' of water slightly beyond Crown.
The winds were strong all day out there, but we set up and stayed put until about noon and then worked our way into the perch grounds for the rest of the day. Pretty slow bite on everything, marked a bunch of fish.
Happy to report it was a successful day for my son! He caught his first keeper laker, 24 1/4".
Not a monster by any means, but a reward for all of the effort.....I'd do it all over again to see how happy it made him! So....
Congratulations Michael....it was worth it to the old man!
Thank You all again for your help in making this happen....appreciate it guys!

forgot to mention went out yesterday and the bite was slow for me anyway. Took my time with the drag as it sucked. Drag, stop and fish. made a big circle back to the truck that took all day so I did not have far to travel come time to leave.
