So it doesn't look like there is much snow in the background of the pike pic.  I thought the whole lake had pert near a foot of snow?

Tony, the sled is making my life easy, but I am not a morning guy, getting to Vets yesterday by 6 damn near killed me, oh, and the reports of idiots parking all over and blocking the in and out toads, totally true....I could barely get my trailer and sled around the guy to my left, who was one of the 2 idiots blocking the road... ???  No fish yesterday for me though, I had trouble getting the perch and lakers to respond, just a few 6 inch dinks....Barebow ???

Worked hard and struggled mightily today.  marked only one fish between 8-noon.  Moved frequently and fished depths from 40 fow to 75fow.  Managed a laker on my tip ups. Had all tip ups set 5-20 ft under the ice over 40 fow, tip up fishing for salmon,  used many tried and true techniques to no avail.  Been a tough season,  guess its even ing up from my record fall trolling.  Nice laker by the way in the pic from the previous page

Good quote from that trip as we were dropping our lines into the Niagra bar:

"Have you ever fished Lake Ontario?"
Me: nope
"You have now"
Me: fish on!!

Pretty close to that anyways.
I hear SR may go to 500 late this week.  Sounds like fun to me!

Oh wait VD day is this weekend..

Hey so what is the deal with the helicopter on LG Southern Basin during the winter? I've never seen it any other season. Must have done about 15 fly-bys on Saturday. What are they doing, counting my tip ups?

I would imagine they are offering rides as part of the carnival. I know a guy who did it last year and loved it.

The guys name is Bruce Mowery.

http://www.northcountryheliflite.com/index.htm

Think he lives in Bolton.  Does a lot of flights during Winter Carnival. Scared the crap out of me and a buddy a few years ago, he had landed at a big snowmobile party by one of the islands in the Narrows and all the sudden came wingin around a corner about 50 ft off the ground!!!!

Yes, he used to land it in his yard on Coolidge Hill. I see it all year round, a lot in the summer.

Fished out of vets all weekend with a buddy.  We caught 20 lakers for the weekend, small ones out deep.  Larger fish greater than 25" were shallow yesterday over the grass.  The pull out and in sucked. Saturday night we had to stop perching when the smelt moved in and filled the flasher screens...

How many people are fishing the tournament this weekend? With this new snow I might be aiming for the perch/pike categories instead of making the walks to laker grounds.
