Awesome video, Red. The shots through the ice are so cool.
Neat to see them burping up the half digested smelt.
Nice work.

Or perhaps neither side of any metaphor is finally dominant, the one inextricably tied to its contrasting likeness, no longer merely a point of comparison but yoked in a new existence to its other self."

Nice videos and fish guys!

I think they have officially inspired me to try out jigging for Lakers. First two times to LG I have been targeting perch.

Nice fish baitbox and you are a good sportsman. :)  Maybe you will get him next year when he is 14 pounds.  How thick was the ice there?

today I caught my new PB laker @ 12 lbs.Catch and release for someone else to enjoy!

What a magnificent creature!! Such an amazing fish.  I can't even imagine how hard it fought!  Look at those huge wing-like pectoral fins.   wow!  congrats!

Thanks prycslyr...that's what I needed. No "marcum" here so the time to sound out and send back down a 100 feet of line with a tiny split shot only is a bit much. I usually put all five just off the bottom?

We've seen quite a few lakers cruising just under the ice this season...plus thats where a bonus salmon might hang...I would put one or two a few feet down.

Last weekend I had a sizeable laker take a smack at plastic on the drop 5 or 6 feet below me...made me shake...Saturday can't come quick enough....I have a new otter I need to assemble....using a pop up and trying to be mobile was killing me.

Have fun with that otter!  ;D
It took me 2 hours just to put the friggin Hyfax runners on mine then, another 4 hours to assemble the shelter! Totally worth it however! Nicest shelter I've ever used! Good luck with yours!

Was a blow out xt650 cottage for 400.  Cant go wrong.  I'm mechanically inclined but do wish I didn't have to put the damn thing together!

You got a good deal, Nice job! I have the XT650 Cabin. It's an awesome shelter, real heavy duty. Not fun dragging in the snow however. Good luck with it!

Thanks everyone for the kind words.I am still stoked!!Going to be a long 5 days waiting to go back out.

Believe it or not Lance it didn't fight that hard.It was making a huge run on the tip up, by the time I got to it I was almost spooled. They can take ALOT of line in a hurry!I set the hook and new by the feeling on the line that it was a good one.It felt like dragging in a log.The real excitement started when I realised that it was barely hooked on the edge of the lip with only 1 barb of the treble holding on.If that laker fought any harder at the hole I probably would never have landed it.

Which 2 man . Pull over, would you recommend for walking.
I like being mobile. But don't want to have a heart attack.
Thanks.
I have a 1 man now. Just want to be able to invite a friend once in awhile.

My friend Ryan made an entertaining video of our group catching a few from this weekend

Really cool footage and nice edit. I am way overdue in getting a pole mount for my GoPro so I can get some of those underwater shots. Does your buddy know the brand of that pole?  Thanks!

The Frabill Trekker is a good choice for a 2 man with decent space and you can minimize the weight by bringing two of those small Tri-fold chairs and leave the bucket seats home. Can also sit on a bucket.
