Warner bay had a skim about 50 yards out this morning.  2 weeks ago the skim was about 150 years out... Snow is definitely not going to help.

Not trying to argue by any means but won't snow help cool the open water and make it colder??   I was always told snow is great prior to ice forming.
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

I agree man. A little snow is going to be great for dropping and keeping those surface temps down on a lake that's open. It's a nightmare for all of our early ice spots that have already capped.

Snow is just like dropping ice cubes in a drink ;).  For all you techies out there, it takes 80 calories of heat to melt one gram of ice.  Bottom line is that snow/sleet will drop water temperatures allowing lake to freeze up faster.  What we really need is a stretch of cold, calm nights to allow ice to form after surface temperatures drop.

Let it be windy until those below temps. Waves= more surface area= quicker temps dropping.  Hopefully we can get the bays to go soon. Almost tempted to drop on the kayak and chase some lakers

I've got 1qt of meat in the freezer with a dozen or so trips in to some of the smaller waters this year.
I can do that in a couple hours on the queen. I'm going to starve if she doesn't freeze soon.  :P

I HATE wasting fish but I got rid of 2 bags that just looked bad from last year. Won't happen again. That being said, I am itching for some fresh perch and crappie. I got a vacuum sealer for Christmas so I look forward to putting that to use as well!

Bah! I'd leave the tipups behind today, but you better believe I'd rather be out there jigging in a shack over sitting here at work.

We're getting buried with snow east of L. Ontario, but Lake George should be in good shape after this week with this cold.  Hopefully, you will all be fishing it soon.  I'd like to get back there, haven't been there in about 5 years now.

Took care of that for you today.  Should've gone to fontana's place but opted elsewhere.  Filled a bucket of gills to 10".  How was work?  ;D

Heh... I still throw the tipups out, even today I did.  But ever since the wife discovered how good panfish are I've been playing the game.  Just need to invest in an electric knife.  Standing over the sink up to 2 hours at a time is a pain, literally.

And on a positive thinking note, I see double digit below zero Wednesday night.  Sure would be nice to get some ice on her.
