I just purchased a new laker set up for jigging and was wondering what line guys preferred. I was thinking braid to a barell swivel then a 2-4 ft piece of flourocarbon. Sound about right? Also do you typically use a swivel when attaching the flourocarbon to the jig? Thanks

Good day today started fishing at 8:00 and had my limit of perch at 10:15. Then I went out laker jigging caught 5, four of them were short. Fun part though was two different times I had Lakers chasing all the way up to 10-15 feet under the ice, and I was trying to sight fish them.      I couldn't get the ones I could see too hit but still fun. One of the times there was two of them circling my bait like sharks, would of been cool to see one actually take but still cool.

snowlt14.....Only use braid if its above freezing or in a nice warm shanty. The line will freeze and becomes difficult to work with.

Fished off pk in 50-120fow. One 3lb laker which I foul hooked in the rear. Didn't mark many on the finder. Slow day but good to be out in the sun ;D

Had to do a lot of sorting today to get my 50 even the keepers were smaller then I've been getting lately. I did get 24" laker as a bonus though, then went out to find some more Lakers caught a twin of the first one and a couple shorts.

I went out of the nw bay today  and got 1 24 "incher.  Had tons of chasers  . And a few on . Was having trouble with my line so switched to my perch set up .  My buddy got 4. Almost got stranded battery died on the quad 1.5 miles out.  Thanks to the guy that hooked us up. I had walked in to get help when he came by and jumped us
Np Lakerdave, I will take you up on that beer one of these days I see you out there though.  :)

I was on my way out to fish in the Conquer Chiari derby this morning and  met Capt. JJ, it was nice meeting him, a nice guy. He was going out with some clients, I hope you did well Jeff, maybe we'll meet up again. :)

Anyone have a comment on the walking up by Bixby? I know last weekend the whole lake was a slush fest. I imagine its a lot easier to walk but haven't been out. Planning on headed out tomorrow and try dome new gear. Oh...and hopefully catch some fish!

I was out at phelps islands today, opposite side from dome island, and it's all solid on top.  18+ inches of ice.  Easy walk once your away from shore.  ( not as bumpy). Fish was on this morning till the wind kicked in. Wow.  Good luck tomorrow, might see ya all the way out there.

Does anyone know any places to park on the east side of the lake.  Any of the marinas allow parking (Harris )?  I called pilot knob and they said no because of problems in the past.  Thanks for any info.

How did Jake's Tourney go? I really wish I could have made it, but my boys have the dreaded stomach bug that has been going around and I don't feel that great myself.
