The string of warm days has got some of the spring bird migrations underway. While out in the yard, I just heard the first woodcock "peint". I commonlly hear the first one in the first week of March, so this one is right on schedule.
They have long bills, but not long enough to penetrate the 3 ft. of snow on the ground up here The Cabela's Fishing catalog came in the mail yesterday though. That counts as a sign of spring.
So much for spring Poor woodcock are going to be sorely disappointed by mid-day tomorrow...
