Ice Update
« on: Dec 21, 2013, 09:17 AM »
Went by Wilsons Reservoir Pascoag at 8am after the show and 5 fishers were out in the middle, not the Broulhard Lane Cove I also took a swing up to Wakefield Pond and it was deserted. There was tire tracks in the boat ramp area where vehicles had been parked earlier in the week. I have seen a lot of reports and photos from Conn. Nh and Maine on good solid 5 inches or more. Two of the coves on Webster Lake, Aunt Marys and near the ski jump looked solid. Be careful and fish with a friend and your Ice Picks and rope. Wayne

Saw a couple guys on Browning Mills pond this afternoon when I took my Brittany over for a quick workout.
Edges were soft.  I don't know how they had done as I did not go out to ask although they were close to the shoreline.

I checked local ice today and its stil 4-5 inches thick give or take up in my area, although as the day went on the ice bit slushy, water started pooling on the surface and the edges got soft. I really wanted to hit my local bass pond today but I didn't want to risk it. I will just wait until midweek when the ice hardens up and I feel safe. Also one thing I forgot to add is I mad it out today on a small pond with no success. Stay safe guys, and IMO, u shouldn't go on the ice tomorrow but that's your decision and if you do please be cautious and stay safe. I really hope the ice stays around til this warm spell ends.

Was out on local ice Thursday all day on 5 inches of ice, same pond today all day and it was down to 4 inches with some slush on top. Did manage a bunch of bass today between 2 and 4 lbs and one big pickeral that wound up biting my thumb pretty good.
Love those slab crappie, jumbo perch, and always love those bull sunfish. A.F.& A.M.

Not willing to risk it tomorrow- Friday for sure.  Keeping my fingers crossed for good ice so that the Gridiron and Between the Cracks tourneys actually happen this year (unlike the last 2 seasons!).  Two great tourneys for two awesome causes!

This sucks. I keep hearing reports of 4+ inches of ice in ri but where I am we usually have early ice and we had a good 5-6 inches of ice Friday, but now it is almost completely gone.

I agree. Last year sucked "the big one" here in RI on some of the bigger waters! It was tough to plan trips out to the ice.

Checked Lincoln woods while walking the dog today...80% open with some ice in the coves...north cove was locked up and won't take much to be good again...we will be alright no worries...besides I asked Santa to give us some good ice  :woot: :woot: :woot: :icefish:
Merry Christmas everyone!

I just went by Wilsons Reservoir, Pascoag, R.I.@ 12;00 on Sat. Dec 28, 2013 and there were 5 fishers out on the ice. Edge was loose, I think they used a plank
