I've been on the hunt...  trying several local water holes.  Nothing but small-medium shiners so far.

UPDATE:  Ahhh..  still no shiners, but plenty of small pout and crayfish.

I found the mother load of pond shiners this week. They were so thick, they looked like pods of menhaden on the surface. The weeds are a pain but it it will get better soon. ;D  I've caught about 200 so far...

Insane...  I'm yet to trap any shiners larger than mediums so far here in NW RI.  Everything is small.  Have a couple places I want to try, but I'm liable to get arrested for trespassing!

It may be worth it.

I've yet to figure out how get the little *****s in my traps, but I've been jigging them up like crazy this week. I've had close to 200 so far this week with some up to 11"... You know it's a big shiner when it's taking drag off  the reel  :o  ;D

This nice cold weather and seeing a few snowflakes has made me itchy. Tried a new spot spot today but only trapped about 300 little pout. Guess we'll keep searching and scratching.

Wait till ice up and suspend the traps a good foot off the bottom.

We did that last year but are trying to get the tank stocked earlier this year. I wish there was something that we could put in the traps to keep the pout away. ???

Well... Maybe just a little  ;). The local polish comunity has discovered that my shop stocks them and I'm selling them just as fast as I'm catching them. I've got a pike charter this morning or I'd be back out there again. 8)
