Deadliest year for ice fishermen

Hearing reports of this year being the deadliest in recent history for ice deaths. I'm not surprised considering how early people are driving on the ice

Yeah it's my first year and it's hard explaining to my wife the lake I'm going to is pretty safe due to the deaths that's happened already

There were 7 more incidents during the Christmas/New Year period in central Mn (Brainerd area) where vehicles and people have gone through the ice. It's a crazy year for ice. The most inconsistent I've ever seen. There are parts of my lake 12 inches thick and other parts nearby are only 5 or 6. Normally it only varies an inch, tops, where I drive. It's really nice. I keep an ice road plowed and it gets thick and very consistent but this year I'm leary.

The lakes in the metro area im living in the ice is sweet I just walk on it tho I don't drive on it I'm in the saint Paul area
