Blue minnow bait machine water
« on: Dec 30, 2014, 09:47 AM »
Has anyone else had any issues with bait that comes from a live bait machine with the blue water? Seems like when I use perch minnow that lived in the blue juice my bite rate goes down... Could it be because the minnows are stained blue or does it do something to there scent? ???
lifes a little sweeter with ice

In our area, we use what is called blues for walleyes. The bait shops all have the minnows in blue water. This helps keep the bluish tint to the minnows. I use a blue bucket for the minnows on the lake. If I use a white bucket, with in a day the minnows are a dull white color. I guess the blue keeps the blue pigment in the skin of the minnow.

actually the blueing powder a bait shop uses helps keep more oxygen in the water when they overload a tank.it does put a tint on them also.

Bait Safe. At the Bait Shop I help out at. There are customers who request it and those that don't. I always use it in my bait. When I use bait.

Carey's here in town uses a chemical that removes the chorine, nitrates etc. that is in the tap water. The additive added a blue tint to the water as well as conditions it too.
