Headed out to the Red this morning. Arrived at 7:30 am and was fishing by 8:00 am. Fired up the Birds flipped the Nanook and started fishin. What a nice day. What made it even nicer was the fact that the Greenbacks co-operated. We caught 8 Greens 2 Big one's and 6 eaters that were 18" to 21.5"..... FISH FRY! We also lost four big Walleyes anywhere from a quater to half way up to the hole (you knew because of the way they were fighting). I had a big Green on but lost her. So Jiffy didn' get his MA Green today but my dad has tied into 6 big Walleye's and landed 3 (28.5", 29" and a 26+'') already this year in two trips. I think it is going to be a fantastic year on the Red! Also caught an absolute mess of Sauger's today. Between three guys we caught 40+ fish.

Salties for bait and there was 10 inches of good ice!

Here are the Pics of my dad's 09/10 ice season trophies ..... So far ..... Tightlines everyone and happy fishin. Back at it on Wednesday to try again.

First one, 28.5", from Wednesday.

Second one, 29".

Third one, 26+", didn't tape her.

hey Jiffy sounds like you had a great day. Im looking to head out tomorrow with my kids. They have never cought any fish out of hard water I was just wondering if you would be able to help me out by giving me the heads up on a good spot???

You guys were pretty quiet catching all those fish compared to the fellow northwest of me that was screaming when he landed a whopper and an audience

I guess I was fishing too deep at 18 feet and using crap bait.....NO .....not the kind TGF makes and uses

There was a tandem and a single Eskimo tent....right?

That your truck eh? Thats one nice ride! 8) 8). Yes that was definetly us right below your truck. It was a great day on the Red. All I will say is that you were not to deep

Maybe it was my bait after all. In year's past, I noticed that if the salties were fresh and firm, then my fishing was better. Guess I'll have to use those minnows for LM perch.....they're not as fussy

Where did you get your salties?

My bait was too RUNNY yesterday

that's why I made a quick exit from the ice at 11am yesterday

Big Brother knows what I'm talking about here

That Artic Armor is not great in the cold but it sure traps the exhaust fumes and vents them through the top....just under your nose

BI - can't keep fishing if the TGF-style bait leaves puddles on the ice. Gotta dump it somewhere (remember - not on the shore!), and get it firmed up.

She may never see the ice for awhile. My last truck was at least 10 years old before I annoited her on the ice

That's what the sled and quad are for
