Chassel Bay
« on: Jan 31, 2010, 08:14 PM »
Another slow weekend. Fished the tourney yesterday. No flags until right at 4 then I had 4 flags in 30 minutes. No fish though, shouldn't have tried to rig my bait a new way like that. Oh well, won't do it again. Fished today from 12-5 in the same area I got the flags Saturday and got nothing. Think I might give up on Chassel and move on to somewhere else.

I only seen/heard of 3 pike caught. The one I seen didn't even look legal. I heard a group talking saying they caught a 21" and 25" inch. They sad they thought they were in the lead with the 25" one. Its said if a fish hardly worth keeping won that.

Yes there were only 3 fish caught. The winning fish was around 28in and the 2nd and 3rd ones were 25in. I was the one who got 3rd place in the tourney.  I was VERY surprised i got 3rd with this fish, much less even placed. I even thought about releasing it after i caught it.

Ya, unless it was hefty 25" its almost not worth keeping. Thats amazing that a 28" pike won. Did you hear if there were any eyes even caught? From what I hear everyone has been having a hard time catching fish out there.

There were no eyes caught by any of the guys who were in the tournament so i believe they just rolled that money over to next years tourney.

I didn't catch anything but at least it gave me an excuse to fish for 8 hours. Was worth the $10 I think

Me and some friends fished the tournament and we caught a 22inch pike and a 46 inch sturgeon. I would put up a pic but i haven't figured that out yet. Got a few other flags but nobody home.

Would've been nice to catch something. At least everyone wasn't as bored as me  :)

Anyone fishing for walleyes and catching any out there? Just targetted walleyes for the first time this past weekend and it was quite a bit of fun. Might try it out here again if they are catching some.

We've been doin alright on pike. Lots small ones in the last few weeks with about 4 somewhere around 10 pounds. Live bait is workin much better than dead right now. I fish out on the lake though, not the bay.

You fish the narrows? or between the humps and the narrows?

I'm not exacty sure what you mean by the narrows. But we don't fish the humps. We don't cross the lake very often at all.

How's the ice doing up there? Been down state on spring break and the ice fishing is about done down here. Few die hards (or crazies  ;) ) left maybe but thats about it.

3' of ice/frozen slush on Chassell bay.  I saw machines going out to the humps yesterday.  An inch or two of water on top in places and slippery.

How's the ice holding up. Thinking about going for crappie today, but not sure. Might just put the ice gear away and go after some trout instead.

Never mind. Put the ice gear in storage for the summer. Went for some rainbows instead. Caught an 11 inch and lost about an 8 inch.
