Garmin striker4 in weeds

(1/2) > >>

Allyn726:
Anyone have any advice for using the garmin striker 4 in a shallow, weedy lake? The water is about 8-10 ft deep. I cant see anything but red when i drop the transducer in. I cant find my bait or see fish. Just wondering if maybe there are any specific settings to adjust.

Gambler:
The unit is probably in the auto gain mode. Go in and turn auto gain off and adjust the gain down manually.

MumbleSEED:
I also believe you can change depth range on that unit as well so taking the range out of auto and into 20 ft might be best bet.  I say 20 because I think that’s the least you can go with.

Gambler:
Do you have the proper transducer chosen?

Allyn726:
Thanks guys. I do have the proper transducer chosen. I do not have any issues with the unit other than when the weeds are bad in a lake. Most lakes it works perfectly. I do usually keep the unit in auto mode. I will try the gain and depth suggestions if the ice holds up for this weekend.
