Kankakee River for those done ice fishing
« on: Feb 16, 2011, 09:12 PM »
I am by far not done ice fishing, but I did go to the Kankakee River today with a buddy to do some bank fishing. Unfortunately I got skunked, but my buddy whose spot it was caught 4 walleye in the bright  sun from 11:30 to 2:30. One was 14" two of them were 18" and came home for dinner and the last one was 25" 7 1/2#s.  The biggest one was measured, weighed, had a few pictures and was successfully released. Hopefully I'll catch her tomorrow! I'll also add that live bait didn't work at all! All walleye were caught on large 3 hook husky jerks in chrome color.

It's my buddies spot, and he wouldn't be happy with me if got packed with people. There's very recognizable terrain in the photo to anyone who has been there before. PM me for more info.

My friend tried a roadrunner jig with a twister tail on it. No luck with it though.

If we can guess what's under the snow on the opposite bank, can we win the GPS coordinates?

Nice walleye.  That snow looks deep on the opposite bank.  Did the angler fall face first into the snow prior to the photo?

Yea, the blotted out area is amusing! I know some people like to see some nice river eyes. I have to respect my friends privacy as he wants it and maybe he'll take me to more of his hot spots.

I recognize the trees, but either way I would be fishing this spot for them eyes reguardless of this post. Hopfully more of them big females come in with all the runoff the river just received. Nice to see one lingering around there already and even better that it was released. One of my friends caught and released a 29 in out of that spot last year.

When they are in full blow spawn...I catch jacks in 3 ft of water.
Never tell a fish where its supposed to be
