Beaver Dam bucket station or Beaver grips
« on: Jan 04, 2019, 11:44 AM »
Curious what your thoughts are on the beaver grips slotted holder for tip ups?  It looks like a great idea to keep my tip ups under control, but I was thinking more along the lines of keeping the tip ups inside the bucket to relieve external bulk.  The grips are curved so they will not mount inside.  I probably will mount them outside, but then if I ever want to use a bucket holder rack it will not side in.

Cool.  I have not seen those.  I agree.  I side is better.  Less bulk and safer for the traps.

Some days I love it some days I hate it for the exact reasons you talked about.  It also gets pretty heavy if you load it up with tipups and minnows.

Plastic downspout material cut into manageable lengths with about an inch ripped out of it lengthwise works good.  Works like a clamp and snugs when you slide the trap in.  Fasten on the insideof the bucket with zip ties...but you gotta drill holes in the bucket wall to attach.

I got one for Christmas last year.  Great idea, holds them solid but takes up too much space and catches on everything.  Totally impractical for hauling around on the ice.  I'm thinking about removing them, making spacers to fit the contours and mounting them inside the bucket.  I like the racks just not the application.

If you use the square buckets, you can mount them on the inside.
