Went out in the minden/haliburton area yesterday for laker action. Bite was excellent from 8am-12pm on shiners mostly, 2 on a tip-up. In total we iced 4 and lost three, largest was 16" and 2lbs or so. Met up with a CO launching his sled, he said the ice is still sketchy on lots of lakes and I was actually surprised he brought his sled out because we were on 4-5" of ice, max. Except for really small lakes that are solid, stay away from river inlets/outlets and anywhere on the lake you'd suspect a current, use an ice pick or drill a lot of holes to check ice thickness as you walk. A hut went through the ice on 12 mile lake last week, so that gives you an idea of the conditions.
