Stripers/Hybrid striped Bass
« on: Jan 12, 2022, 02:33 PM »
I'm planning on trying my luck this winter in a few spots that have hybrid stripers. Does anyone have any tips? Lures, baits, where to find them under the ice ETC. Thanks in advance.

No experience with hybrids but I’ve caught a lot of school stripers through tidal ice. Good luck jigging a Swedish pimple or kastmaster with a single in-line hook. Since 95% are under 28” I remove the barb. They tend to school up pretty tight and are very light feeders during daylight hours for the most part. They will inhale a live shiner but since not legal to keep under 28”, that’s a no go here. I don’t really know if hybrids behave the same so YMMV.
