Ice scratchers
« on: Jan 17, 2016, 09:07 PM »
Can anyone recommend a specific kind of scratcher ? Looking for something that mounts on the inside of the front skis to help cool a lubricant a liquid cooled sled .

denniskirk.com should be able to hook you up. I've never seen scratchers mounted to ski's.

I knew I had seen them before and a quick search yielded this.

X2 only problem I found is the clip that keep the scratcher up does not work that well.  I modified mine to prevent the scratcher deploying when I do not want to use it.

When riding on clear ice they provide lubrication to your slides by "scratching" the ice and throwing it under your track... ;)

I have the HD plastic covered cables on my Sled. They have replaceable Carbide ends. The good thing with these is you can go in verse if needed without damaging them. The steel ones are for forward use only. They bend horribly out of shape if used in reverse. Thes Cable ones do throw alot of ice shaving onto the track.

Are the scratchers that mount to the front skis any better or worse?

Also, are the cable ones really that much better to justify the higher cost? I get the option for reverse, but is that really a big deal
