hard to pinpoint but inside the crowd not far off the main path. Other's were catching them in other areas also pretty  sure it is all about the same in the entire area. Work calls during the week for me so I am sure by the time I can get back at it I wont be the first.

Marcus, I moved to Philadelphia in July.  Lots of fishing down here, but just isn't the same as Chautauqua.  I will be coming home at least once or twice to get on the ice...hopefully!

Just walked out of Chautauqua Shores onto the lake. There are a couple huts and a couple bucket dwellers fishing off of the Bell Tower, also a couple huts off of Penergast Point. One of the huts looked to be fishing out towards the middle of the Lake. Conditions look great but I didn't drill any holes yet. I went out to retrieve 3 Bud long neck bottle that someone had thrown onto the ice  :%$#!: :%$#!:. This really bothers me because this is an area where lots of people swim in the summer right around the docks! Grrrrrrrrrr

I believe at this moment it is, but if it gets abused again, with trash everywhere, then it may get shut down!

I fished mayville last night. Ice thickness varies from spot to spot.  I cut threw 5 inches in one spot, but most places were still only 3-3.5" thick.  There is a few pressure cracks to worry about as well.  Fishing was better than average for perch and gills, but I think a little early for the real hot calico bite.

In regard to the bell tower:  This is were I caught my biggest and best catches of perch last year and I hope it doesn't get taken away from us. Please gentlemen pick up your trash and any other debris you see laying around.  I have also heard that the residents are concerned about ruts in the grass from people parking as well.  So watch the tires when you are parking and leaving.  The access is great at the bell tower and I don't want to see it ruined.

I agree... DEC loves to write tickets like that and would have no problem taking those types of complaints.  We need to preserve this area so i'm not forced to bring my wheeler every weekend.  ;D

Just wondered how things are holding up in Mayville.  I guess if it was spotty last night it may be very spotty today.  I'm always super careful this early but it may be getting to the point where its just not safe. Theres cold air behind all this rain which should make for some good ice in a couple days.

mayville would be sketchy at best, why not go to lakewood? I am sure the ice is still fine there. I was at Long Point last night and the ice was 5" maybe a little more mostly clear, if I was fishing I would feel comfortable there.

nelson that you. Well anyways if not. Just look out from maple to the right a little and you will see everyone. That is it. It is one of the deepest spots in the lake.
