if the weather stays cold, it should be about the week of x - mas, maybe the week after. there was plenty of ice and snow last year in January.

If the snow stays off it might not be to much longer! Mayville is usually the first to freeze!!!!

I'm hoping for Christmas week, I'll be down that way anyhow. The wife might not like it if it's that week though  ;D

Lets hope its early! I fished Cuba Lake last year on Dec. 24. Had 3'' of clear black ice, and limited out on 11'' calicos.

The key will be how much snow it gets after it starts to freeze. We would of had 20 inches last year if the snow hadn't caused the slushfest.

Last night and this morning I drove over the bridge and it is locked up from Bemus Bay to the outlet.  If it stays cold and we don't get alot of snow the next few days, it is supposed to be a high of 17 on Mon and 18 on Tue, I wouldn't be surprised to see guys fishing in Burtis Bay mid week next week.  I'm not in that much of a hurry, but after late muzzleloader season would be cool....

Be careful with that bait shop advice. I find from them that the fish are always biting on what they are selling!!!!   Cya....

I need to get my post count up.  I had to sign up as lovetoshoot because something was to messed up to get my other ID to work.  So I'll chime in here on this topic of the bait shops.  For ice conditions and basic fish reports the shops in the area do a great job.  I have never felt pressured into buying what anyone else was using and the safety of true ice reports from the Happy Hooker are a bonus!  Those folks are more interested in the safe return of all their customers than their own profit.  I for one enjoy stopping there even after I'm done fishing.  Dec.27th is looking like my first trip to the Happy Hooker. See you soon Brian and Lisa!

I'm planning a mid winter road trip this season and Chautauqua is at the top of the list. Are there any motels/cabins on the lake where a person could just run the snowmobile from the motel to the lake? It would be nice to just hop on and ride out versus trailering it to the lake.

webs is right along lake in good area and snowmobile access. Ice is on now! was there yesterday. not much snow on it because of wind.. temps have been below 17 for 2 days, ice should be good.

+1 on the Happy Hooker, always treat me well.

I was just looking on reports page and 6-7 in was reported at Burtis. I'll be down that way for Christmas and looking to get out on the 27th....Game on  ;D

Going to be nice to go from the woods straight to the ice!

It would be nice if we could keep the "Who's Going and How's the Ice?"questions in here.  It would be a shame if the Chautauqua Lake Reports and Conditions Thread got locked again because we couldn't follow a few simple rules.

Stay on top everyone........

would have tried mayville but I was alone. fished  burtis water is very dirty slow fishing gonna get back at it in a few. Was hoping to find  someone to come out and explore a bit but no takers. walked out to the end of the ice rink in mayville and the ice was definately  getting thinner, but I bet with a brass set and a spud bar it would be fishable. maybe someone will come through and at least spot me while I check. I do not want to be alone while I check.

Marcus i cant fish till sunday the 26th. My good friend haus & I would like to meet you. If you dont find someone to go with ya by then let me know. My wife bought me a side image for the boat this year . I have a few spots marked on the GPS not to far from shore in mayville. I want to see if the fish are hanging there.
